The Cabo Polonio lighthouse gives a great view of the exuberant landscape, with views of the "Loberia" (the place where the seals are) and to the small village.
The views you get from the top of the lighthouse was super! You could see how little place really is! You could also see the sea-lions from there, but you see them better from below!Hope you have as much fun there, as I!
It's one of the few noticeable things in Cabo Polonio as of course the main idea here is to relax or party. It's worth checking out, especially if you want to see some wildlife, but there's nothing special to it.
This light tower is definitely worth the time if you are already in town anyway. It was only $20 URS (less than $1 USD) per person to gain entrance. There were 132 steps to the top, which is a little bit challenging but we all made it without major difficulties. Once at the top, the views out to sea are terrific but the major attraction is the view of the sea lion colony on the rocks below. The experience in that regard is quite memorable. The day we were there in the off-season it was extremely windy with a biting cold. But that did not take away from the view. If you are going to be in Cabo Polonio, make sure this is a part of your experience.
I absolutely just adore this place. A UNESCO world heritage site. The light tower was built in 1881, stands 21feet long and maintained by the Uruguayan Navy. Loads of sealions and seals are basking on the rocks whilst you breath in the totally clean, fresh and unpoluted air. Huge dunes to the North (where many a movie has been shot)..the little "town" reminds you of Woodstock... a fantastic place to visit!!!!!!!
You cannot miss going there to experience Cabo Polonio. Very well maintained house light with very interesting pictures of the history and information of the place of the at the entrance. From the top you can enjoy with bird eyes the beautiful place in all its majestic deployment: wild life, islands, waves, rocks, dunes, beaches, people. Fresh and clean air. We went in late March 2014, when Fall starts and weather was great.
The view from the lighthouse at Cabo Polonio is wonderful and give a good idea of the surroundings. You pay 20 pesos which is not too much.
