We spent a day at Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. This is a relatively small ski resort, but it's wonderful. The top of the mountain has an observation deck with a stunning view, also there's an interesting tunnel (not for those with a weak heart) that's leading to another observation deck, on the other side of the mountain with an even better view. There're no huge lines, very good trails. The only thing, some of the trails are marked confusingly. All in all - a great place to spend a skiing day.
We were lucky enough to be there on a thursday since there is a free guided hiking walk starting from the top coming back to the next lower station, but you need to reserve it with some time anyway. It took us around 5 and a half hours , beautiful place to hike. We loved to see some snow in the middle of summer since at our country we never have it. It takes three different cable cars to arrive to the top. Then we crossed the mountain through a tunnel and at the other side we arrived to the glacier. Coming back we stopped at a small mountain restaurant to have a beer and eat something , beautiful mountain hike experience.
must go for some good ski ing ,but only if the sun shines, fantastic views from the top station with some good places to eat and take in the sunshine
This is a must on a clear day, the view is amazing and you will never forget your visit, also take a drink in the restaurant, great selection of food too.
+high -so powder lasts well.+good off piste and itineraries+Choke points on first two lifts up. Better higher as load spreads+Limited restaurants
skiing is good but be prepared for packed lines/queues especially going to the top of the glacier. we waited 45 minutes before catching the gondola
Great snowboarding a bit busy but nothing we couldn't handle. I recommend coming the people and views are great.
The Freeride Slopes X1..X5 are great. Very challenging, with lots of variants and a great view. Perfect!
A great place for skiing, suitable for beginners and more experienced skiers, with plenty of panoramic pistes and excellent facilities.
...or at the very least - one of Europe's most beautiful mountain tops. The landscape is mainly above the tree line, which makes it a breath taking visit. As a skier it's one of the most beautiful places I have ever skied. Contrary to mny other high altitude commercial ski sites it's characterized by it's slopes being reasonably manageable opning it up to skier who prefer smooth skiing to reckless descents (whick by the way also can befound in the area if you insist:-)Do go.
