Great people, nice animals. It was amazing to see the Big cats. :) :) :) If you do not like zoo's or believe in them, this is not the place.
We are a home daycare agency called Wee Watch. We had a "Zoo Day" which was a day out for the children and their providers. We all had a great experience there! They put on a little show for us which gave everyone the opportunity to feel certain furs and feathers from the animals in the zoo. The staff was very welcoming and shared the life stories of a lot of their animals. They were involved with our group at a great amount. We will definitely be returning to the zoo! Thanks Killman Zoo for giving us an amazing day out with everyone!! I will be recommending them to anyone who asks!
Recently met 2 ladies that are affiliated with Killman Zoo. I told them I would make a point to finally visit the zoo I had seen signs advertising but had never visited. My 3 yr old loves animals, and as it was quite cool today, we decided to take a trip to Killman Zoo. We had a great time, the animals are very close! Nice to get such a birds eye view of so many amazing animals. We did buy peanuts to feed the animals but most ended up on the ground, my son's aim was not so great. The highlight of our day was being invited for a closer look at Rudy Valentino, the Wallaby. Paige was wonderful with Rudy and my son. Her love of the animals and passion for her job really shows. Those leaving negative reviews don't know what they are talking about, I love animals and was more than satisfied that they were well cared for and had the room and stimulation required by individual species. We had a fun day out, hope to make it back soon!
My family and I have always enjoyed Killman zoo. It's a small private zoo, and you get personalized viewing, if timing is right. They had a baby wallabee there last week - the girl had it in a baby sling - soo cute. The selection of cats is great and I don't kow of anywhere else you can safely see a lion or tiger as close as 4 ft away. You can even see the spots on the black jaguars? We went last week, and it did not disappoint, don't expect large publicly funded displays/habitats but enjoy what it is.
What an amazing place to visit!! Spent time with the owners and learned so much about the animals homes and needs......the cats are my favorite and seem to be very happy in their homes. They have lots of love and care and a huge cat run and pond area to play in and run which they rotate through each lion for they like their own time and space. The cages were very well maintained and clean and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They treat the animals as their own family which is a quality I personally love! I am glad that they have such a huge cat collection and I cant wait to visit again in the spring!!! Good job guys!
We have been visiting Killman Zoo for over 20 years. We always bring our cameras, and our friends and family too. We love the natural sanctuary environment, the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and their entire fuzzy family. Big cat feeding time is one of our favourite times at the zoo. What an incredible, powerful and awe inspiring one-of-a-kind experience. We also adore the lion cub cuddles. It is so amazing to bottle-feed baby lions. Thanks to Killman Zoo, over the years, we have touched baby ferrets, cougars, lions and tigers and many more. We return to Killman again and again for more and more once in a lifetime experiences.
Off the beaten path and away from big city crowds. A great place to relax and see the animals up close! The best place on Earth to enjoy a picnic!
I have been to the Killman Zoo at least 2x in my life, most recently in August 2014. The premises are in rough shape, and the "cages" are ramshackle and home-made at best. I don't purport to know much about zoos, or the quality standards that might be associated therewith, but this one looks like something you would see in a 3rd world country. Living conditions for the animals appear to be very poor and none of them appeared to be happy or content except the billy goats!. The washroom facilities for visitors consist of "porta-potties". The place generally reeked of animal urine (as other reviewers accurately stated), and while it has a relatively cheap admission price, and you can get really close to the animals, for the same price I would suggest the nearby Twin Valley Zoo in Brantford, ON, where the displays appear to be much higher quality, and the animals appear to be better taken care of. I won't get back again.
Our family visited the zoo last week. With three small children(under the age of six) we entered the zoo and immediately met the Siberian Tiger "Storm"...one of the employees was touching his nose and he was purring like a kitten and rolling on his back..we were within 4 feet of his cage. What a thrill! The big cats are beautiful and most of them were born at the zoo. You can view all the animals up close and feed many of them with peanuts sold by the zoo. Our boys were delighted when the goats and deer ate from their hands. We took a picnic lunch and sat at a table where we could view the lions who were sleeping about 60 feet away. The size of the zoo is small and just right for touring with small children.I had read other reviews and agreed with everyone except the person who thought the zoo was "sad" and the cages small. The animals are well cared for and and have access to roaming areas...the staff are eager to answer questions and safety is not an issue. This is a great place for the family to visit and the cost is reasonable. Highly recommended!!!
I have never written a review but having seen the Killman Zoo this month I see it fit. This zoo was sad. The cages were far too small, a putrid smell through out, and all the animals were depressed. I even felt a bit nervous for my safety, as there was only a chain linked fence with chicken wire added as extra protection between us and some of their 1000pnd lions. If the owner wants to run a zoo with exotic animals he/she needs to follow stricter guidelines and protocols. These animals are far too beautiful to be treated such inhumanly.
