Had the carriage waiting for my wife and I at a downtown restaurant for Valentine's Day. Wonderful is the best way to describe our next hour or so. Joy had warm blanket's waiting for us on a rather chilly night. We learned soo much from Joy about Canden's rich heritage. Will book her again for sure. Oh, and thanks to Shadow as well!
Went on a lovely tour through the beautiful streets of Camden. Fun stories and very interesting. We ended our long weekend with this event and it was a perfect ending to a wonderful memory.
My wife and I took a carriage ride Labor Day weekend. There was a snafu with our reservations and our ride got delayed a couple of days. Anna was new (we were her third solo riders), but she did a good job. I am sure she will be even better as time goes on. Give them a try. You'll enjoy the ride and history of Camden, the oldest inland city in South Carolina.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed the experience of the ride with Camden Carriage Company. Our guide explained the history of this quaint little town in an extremely interesting way. We highly recommend the carriage ride if your travels bring you to this area.
As a recent transplant to Camden with out of town family in for Christmas, I arranged a carriage ride through Camden. What a treat! We rode in a lovely carriage pulled by Big John. We were taken down streets both large and small while hearing about the architecture and the impressive historical significance of Camden's people, buildings, and past events. Our guide, Anna, was super knowledgable and quite funny. Carriage tours can easily be customized and I'm already planning my next carriage ride! I highly recommend this wonderful tour of my beautiful new community.
Private ride with a great guide...historic area is beautiful and guide brings it alive.
We needed a change of pace and Michelle and Camden Carriage Company offers just that. Our kids had a blast. They loved meeting the horse Big John. No greater way to spend a day in Camden.
Contact camdencarriage.com, 803-425-5737 for a horse drawn carriage ride by owner/operator Joy. She was born and raised in this beautiful little town. Very enjoyable, informative tour of the city & residential areas. Beautiful homes. Old time, very friendly small town experience----she knows everyone and it's obvious they adore her. (And her horse Shadow.) Part of the charm of our ride was meeting the locals along the way as they greeted Joy (and us) from their porches or as their children came to greet Shadow. Back in time experience. Southern charm all the way! Very reasonably priced. Would of paid triple, without thinking twice.
The carriage ride provided by Joy, and her horse Shadow, is a pleasant and relaxing way to see the historic homes in the northeast part of Camden. There is a great deal of interesting history to be absorbed, but actually it was a bit too much -- and that is why I have given it 4 stars instead of the five given by previous reviewers. Joy is a non-stop "infomercial" about Camden's history and about Southerners -- their mores, prejudices, women and wisdom. All done in good taste and with humor, but we got to the point where a little "quiet time" would have been appreciated but didn't know the polite way to make it happen.
We have taken this ride by ourselves on a cold winter night shortly after we moved to Camden. The owner knows the history of the town and the blanket made it worth the ride just to snuggle.
