We decided to stay here for Spring Break and the park hosts were very friendly. The spots have plenty of grass, but not many have shade, especially if you want to be near the water. The water is very low, but we have a boat, so spend most of our time in the middle of the lake. The bathhouse is clean, but only 1 stall was working, so lines started to form! Very good price for the amenities and location!
We frequent Potter's Creek because it has a very nice park and the location is very good to visit many towns in a good radius. Their reservation service is lacking as I have never found it to be accurate but it is a good park.
This park is lovely and while there are not many trees there are nice covered shelters for the picnic area. Not that it matters much when you are on the lake but to come home to some shade is nice. Boat ramp well maintained and clean.
We had spot 7 and it was awesome. Deer wonder up to your site which our boys loved. Beautiful views and clean bathrooms. Bathhouse was heated which was a bonus!
We love camping in Potter's Creek on Canyon Lake. Not only are the people friendly, so are the deer. Beautiful Corps of Engineer park that honors the America The Beautiful Park pass. Some may feel the park not having sewer connection at the site is an inconvenience, but that is not a problem for us. Spacious RV sites and tent sites, plenty of space between sites and lots of trees. Great view of the lake and wild life.
The gates being closed at 10 pm sharp and no late check-in almost made me a sad camper. However we made it in time with our pop up. Very dark at night and the parking pads are elevated, but level, so backing in was tricky on a moonless night. Friendly staff, Clean restrooms. Beautiful scenery. Lake was low but all lakes around Texas are low now. Swimming was nice. I wish it had a playground but no biggie. Was in site 74 with shade. The sites closer to the water do not have shade. Would definitely go back
Camp host and park rangers were very friendly and helpful. Property fairly well maintained. Campsites are a little too close together. I would prefer not hearing my neighbors conversations when I am camping. Wildlife viewing was great! Maybe a little too great, as we had a number of skunks roam through our campsite numerous times in the evening hours. We were in the wooded area, so some of that is to be expected, but it was enough to make me think that they have a lot of skunks in that particular part of the campground. So if you want to avoid skunks, reserve in the non-wooded part of the park!
Very nice CoE park right on Canyon Lake. Lots of shade, many sites with utilities, large clean bathrooms. Lots of deer wander through the park.
Just got back from spending three nights at Potter's Creek Park. We stayed at site # 58 under some beautiful oak trees. The water was beautiful, as blue as the caribbean and as clear. The weather was hot, but we live in Texas, so we expected that. The bathrooms were spotless, a big plus in my book. The grounds were beautiful. We people were very friendly. We can't wait to come back in the fall when it is a littile cooler. There were lots of families. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.
Potter's creek has beautiful views from just about every camp site. There are plenty of waterfront spots which are full sun and lots of shaded spots on the hill among the large oak trees. We have a camper and decided to use the bathhouse because they were very well maintained and the shower stalls are large. We did have a problem with the camp site electrical system , it had blown out our camper. The park sent someone out to investigate and file a report . We where able to move sites and continue our vacation using what power source we had left in our camper. Still had a great time and always love vacationing in Canyon Lake.
