If you're looking for a great way to spend a few hours in a beautiful garden setting, with fountains, pools, and enormous trees in a park setting, this is it. Great walks, and the museum next door is well worth the visit.

The self guided areas are very well kept and you can spend a few hours wandering around the site. Docents are very pleasant, although not everything they say should be taken as the truth.

Lovely property, wonderful California gold rush story that links back to Killarney, Ireland! This wasn't Mr. Bourne's only home. There is a replica of his home in Ireland close to San Francisco callef the Filoli House.My favorite time to go is at Christmas when Santa is visiting for the children.

While his workers toiled far underground, William Bourne, when visiting his gold mine, lived in a charming old English style stone house set within beautiful gardens with splendid fountains which have been lovingly restored. Make certain that you do not miss the tours showing the interior of the cottage.

The Bourne Cottage is part of Empire Mine State Park. The docents play the part of the mine owners, managers, and housekeeper, they stepping back in time and take you with them . If you are visiting the park don't miss the Cottage Tour.

Part of the Empire Mine experience and worth a visit. Filoli, in Woodside, Calif. was the Bourne's main house, and also worth a visit. Docents dress in vintage dress on many weekends, and take on the rolls of those who lived there.

We toured the cottage after receiving a very informative background on the history of the cottage and its inhabitants. The home itself has been lovingly well kept and the surrounding gardens are really quite beautiful. It was fun touring the cottage with the historical characters in costume and learning about life back then.

Today they gave us a tour as if we were guests in their home. They had people acting as if they were the Bourne Family and had the maids too. They even gave cookies to our grandson. It was very fun and interesting.
