Can only be seen from a distance so one does not see much.
one of several islands off cape porpoise.a great boat anchorage, its protected waters are ideal for kayakers as well.watch out for poisen ivy on goat island.camping is permitted one one of these islands.never crowded yet. I live here,I love it.oveit.
This is another lighthouse near where I live. I've been here quite a few times, and have enjoyed every trip to take pictures of the lighthouse.
The Goat Island Light is an attractive early 19th century brick built lighthouse located off Cape Porpoise, north of Kennebunkport. Originally built as a manned lighthouse guarding the Harbor entrance, the light on the tower is still active, now being fully automated with a 14 mile range lens. Only accessible to the public by boat or at low tide by special arrangement, the light is easily seen from the shoreline waterfront in Cape Porpoise Harbor. Both the keeper's house and the tower are looked after by the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust.
Views of the boat moored in the harbor. Watching the fishermen unload the days catch. Some local restaurants to satisfy the food needs. Picturesque. Can travel onto Wood Island Lighthouse next.
All of last years work is done. The reconstructed bell tower and the walk way from the light keepers house to the light house are done. I am lucky to have friends who live on the Cape and have a boat to make the trip to the Island. You have to watch the tides and only go at high tide.
While eating lobster at the Chowder House, we were able to see Goat Island Lighthouse across the bay. When it got darker our, the light came on and flashed appox. 8-10 seconds. Very pretty!
This adorable little lighthouse is close to my home.I never get sick of seeing it.People care and are trying to preserve it and its integrity.May its light shine on forever!!!!
Take a canoe, boat or kayak out.Too far to see from the pier.Small light that isn't impressive.
