We were there this August. The cave is beautiful. Especially with small children, the 30 minute tour is perfect. Our tour guide was Ali. She was great, always smiling and she made it fun for both my kids. Def must see.
This was a great tour. The cave is beautiful! My tour guide, Missy, was very knowledgable and passionate about caves. I learned a lot of information about cave formations, rocks, and minerals that I can share with my class. The shop had beautiful and varied objects for sale. It was a great visit!
This is a sad little cave. The ticket price is only $7.95 and I feel that is just about all this tour is worth. The gift shop contains some neat items, but the cave is really not a great cave. Parts of the tour involve just walking next to the cave and looking down into some openings where you can see rocks and formations. When you are in a cave the temperature is usually a very nice 65 degrees, but since most of this tour you are just "near" a cave it can be very hot if it's a hot day. Near the end of this very short tour you get to walk down several steps and walk down a short pathway of cave before you walk up several steps and walk out of the cave and back to the "walking next to the cave" area. Our tour guide was very informative about the history of the area and about caves and science in general. He made the tour worth every penny. If you want to see a beautiful cave visit Cub Run Cave in Cub Run, KY, Diamond Caverns in Park City or Mammoth Cave. These three all offer real cave tours through a cave, not just walking near a cave.
Don't miss a tour of Onyx Cave. It's part of Mammoth Cave National Park but it is NOT a part of the Mammoth Cave itself. The Park Service runs tours to this cave. Plan your visit so you can take one. Not to be missed!
The cave is so beautiful, and has tons of formations. A lot smaller than other caves in the area and so easy to get around, but you do not miss out on anything. Our tour guide was very pretty and a short brunette with glasses. I believe her name was Alli. She was wonderful. Very intelligent and definitely knew what she was talking about. She was hilarious and the best tour guide we've ever had, as she was also very polite. Their rock shop was also awesome. Just an all around great place!
We chose this cave tour because it stated it was less strenuous and we had a senior citizen in our group. Needless to say there is appx 60 steps and though that is not many they were to steep for him to take and he only did a small part of the tour. The cave is very small in nature and not much to see. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable.
Our guide was very nice and very informative on the tour. Really close to our hotel across the street.
If you don't have a lantern, you don't see as much. Otherwise great. Crickets, salamanders, gypsum glittering caves...
This was a nice short tour for kids who don't want to spend hours in a cave, You get to wear a helmet or take a lantern or a flashlight. It's about a 30 min tour but the 3 7 and 9 yr old granddaughers loved it.
This was a side-trip as we had another Mammoth Cave trip later in the day. This was a nice tour, just over 30 minutes, and was well done by Missy who was our tour guide. She took her time and showed the many intricacies of this unique cave. Missy shared alot of her knowledge and cave experience. This is a must see for any that want a good short cave trip.
