Was there Oct 15 during mid week just my wife and I and were only ones present other than staff. We returned that Saturday with another couple to share with them some wine. Arrived at 3:00 and was advised there was at least half hour wait and would we like to make a reservation for a tasting ($8 for 5 samplings). Was raining so we could not wait outside and I have an arthritic knee. We left and visited a Cidery close by and returned at 4:20 and was turned away as we were told we could not do a tasting, but we could buy a glass of wine if we cared to stand. I have been to most every Finger Lakes winery and have never been told we could not do a tasting.
In Cazenovia, NY near the end of east lake road, along the side of beautiful Cazenovia Lake, high on a hill side stands the wonderful Owera Vineyards. The setting is breath taking, the many choices of wines are all outstanding, great oven backed pizzas on crisp thin crust and a warm and accommodating staff, all orchestrated under the direction of Ms. Nancy Muserlian what else could you ask for. I encourage any one to experience this gem of Cazenovia, I do often and you will not be disappointed.
After a rocky start with noise carryover to neighboring residences, Owera Vineyards has established itself as a good neighbor and a shining example of how a commercial enterprise can co-exist in a non-commercial environment, drawing people from near and far to this beautiful setting. From the tasting room, with a wide selection of delicious wines and handmade stone-oven pizza, to the luxurious party "tent" across the parking lot, this attraction is top-shelf - and a "must-see" for any visitor to the area.
This young winery has it all going on. Wine tastings, hearth baked artisan pizzas, delectable cheese trays, live music on Sunday (a little loud but enjoyable nonetheless.), and a lively crew of very friendly servers. Expansive grounds are worth walking to catch the views. We look forward to going back again!
The wine tastings are great along with a choice of cheese or chocolate platter. You can also get a pizza. If you sit outdoors they have someone to wait on you. Will go back and enjoy my favorite wine outside and have a pizza!!
We visited Owera on a beautiful fall day (Sept. 28) and enjoyed some lovely wine and a couple brick oven pizzas on the patio. Both wine (2012 Chard) and pizzas were delicious. The tasting room is absolutely beautiful as are the grounds. We were able to chat with the owners who were extremely friendly and open about their winery and plans for growth. They even encouraged us to pick some apples to take home with us! This was our second visit and we are already planning our next trip there before the fall runs out!
I recently discovered Owera Vineyards and am so happy that I did! It is a little drive southeast of Syracuse, but well worth the trip. The winery itself is beautiful, the owners did a fantastic job in terms of interior design. The wines that I tasted were all delicious, as was the brick oven pizza I enjoyed for lunch. There are several pizzas to chose from as well as several cheese plates. Back to the wine, the cost of tasting is a little high (3 wines for $5, or 5 wines for $8). However, the bottles are reasonably priced and I went home with 3. The staff is very friendly and eager to make your visit enjoyable. This was a fun trip and I look forward to visiting again soon!
Went to Owera Vineyards for my sister-in-law's 50th birthday party. We were warmly welcomed and waited on. Though we took up much space, and it was beginning to get crowded, we were never rushed or made to feel as if we were an imposition. The decor is beautiful, the food is delicious and the wine was tasty. The owner was lovely and her staff was terrific. A wonderful, memorable time was had by all. Thank you Owera.
We visited on a weekday around lunch for a tasting. Often times new wineries have marginal wines but we enjoyed Owera. Bought 3 bottles to take home. The setting is beautiful and the bar is a gorgeous old growth slice of tree. The bar tender was pleasant and informative.
We visited the winery during Farm Days in Madison County and had a ball. Wine tastings, beer sampling, visits to the garden, vineyards and a peek at their cattle. The staff was great.I like white (in particular the Betty White)wine and my husband red sowe brought home some of each. It's become our go-to place with friends to relax, have some wine and enjoy the artisan pizza's.
