This is a very professionally designed and managed range. The ventilation and climate control maintain a very nice shooting environment. Shady Oaks staff are extremely nice and helpful. The range officers maintain a very safe range. I highly recommend a visit to Shady Oaks!
I opted for the full membership, because I often only need to drop in quickly to test a new gun, test a repair/upgrade, sight in a scope, or only have a short time window. With the full membership you don't feel obligated to get your very reasonable $15/45 minutes single-use fee. Yes, there is another gun range down 1431 a little way that is a little cheaper, but its outside, its hot, and they aren't real friendly, as opposed to the staff at Shady Oaks. Very do everything they can to be sure you are comfortable, safe, and satisfied.
The first indoor range I ever shot as was the one under the NRA HQ in Waples Mill Virginia (try it if you ever get the chance). I was spoiled as this is simply one of the finest indoor ranges in the world. I had to come back to Earth when I moved here to Texas. Everything here was an improvement except the indoor ranges. They were fine, well run and safe, but they just didn't come up to level I knew it was possible to achieve. Shady Oaks finally hurdles that bar. This is one of the quietest indoor ranges I've ever shot at. The acoustics are simply amazing. There is a positive pressure draw toward the back wall, which enhances both comfort and safety. The shop is good as well with a complete stock of even oddball ammunition. I was able to find .38 S&W for a WWII Enfield revolver out on the shelf. They also keep a nice stock of firearms for purchase or rental. Prices are competitive. Finally the owner is a real enthusiast both for shooting and the technology that underlies a great range. The facility is well placed. If you are in the Cedar Park or Crystal Falls area, you have no reason to go anywhere else for indoor shooting. If you are farther out, it is well worth your drive for an upscale experience at a bargain price. They also do classes and have an excellent classroom on site.
While this is the only gun range I have been to, the staff is always helpful and encouraging. The facility is very clean and rules are enforced for everyone's safety. I love the automatic holders for targets that let you bring them out the distance you want to shoot and return them to you.
Last month my sister was visiting from out of town. She and my sons all wanted to go shooting.Well, it's hot in Texas. Typically the choice around here is broil outside or bake inside. Shady Oaks in addition to having a great facility has wonderful filtration and enough air conditioning to make it pleasant inside!Add in a good retail selection and great staff and it's a winner!Headed back there today because, well, it's*still* hot here in Texas!
I've shot everywhere in Austin and surrounding and was super excited when this range opened up minutes from my house. My wife and I use this range as frequently as we can for our date nights. Friendly staff and range officers are extremely understanding and helpful to all the first time shooters I've seen while I've been there and NOT rude, demeaning, or disrespectful like I've seen at some other ranges. It is only a 25 yard range, but has fantastic bays and ventilation system. Did I mention it's all new... Everything is top notch and clean. They offer ammo at very competitive prices and beat most places. Have not purchased any firearms from them but they recently got their FFL and have a decent selection and prices.
I have had the opportunity to tryout hi range 4 or 5 times recently. This is a new range with any excellent features. One big advantage is the excellent air handling system that keeps the smoke and funds going down range and out through an advanced air filtering system. Lighting is excellent and brass can be quickly put in containers under the floor and out of the way. If your a reloaded you are welcome to pick up your spent brass. Clean restrooms and a very nice pro shop. The Staff is friendly and helpfull.
This is an awesome range, very modern and the staff is very friendly. It is close for me since it is in Cedar Park.I would recommend it to anyone.
The guys were friendly and helpful! The range was professionally managed and quite modern. A person can rent weapons as long as they buy their ammo there. Lessons are available and Monday night is Ladies Night so call them for info on the specials!
We were two Brits on holiday with little or no gun experience. We were a bit nervous about turning up to a gun range in America having no idea what we're doing but the staff were great. They showed us an introduction to gun safety video before we got started, and recommended a couple of guns to start with. We have no frame of reference but the facilities seemed excellent. There was a member of staff in the range who gave us tips and helped us throughout. It was a very reasonable price too. A Very enjoyable morning!
