When in Lake Charles and you have the chance to bring your children the Children's Museum located on Broad St is a great idea. I was pleasantly surprised at what there was to offer at this neat children's wonderland.
we had a birthday party and they were very rude and told us we had to be quiet. what children want to sit and be quiet at a bday party. never will i come again
My kids loved this museum. They are four and two. There is so much to see and do, you really need to plan on being there four or more hours. My kids were not ready to leave when we had too. I will bring them back again and budget more time for them to play in each exhibit as long as they would like.
Maybe it's because I'm use to the Indianapolis Children's Museum, but this place was a bit worn and not much to do. I can see this place being a good activity for a rainy day, but if you're just vacationing, I wouldn't bother. My four year old had much more fun feeding/chasing ducks nearby than this place.
I bring my grandkids there all the time and they love it. It is so much fun for them, and so much fun to watch them have fun while they learn. I just wish they had more places to sit for us 'old' people. The kids never sit, they are always moving from one thing to another. Well worth the money and time.
great place for the kids, both young and old!!............lots to learn and see about the area in the forms of interactive and static displays..Take a break from the outdoors and take the kids here!!!
Where do I start?1) The diaper changing table in the restroom blocks the door trapping everyone in the stall or blocking the stalls. There is a large loose fire extinguisher on the floor under the sink that my 2 year old knocked over. Fortunately it fell away from her feet instead of on our feet.2) The big kid exhibits are lacking in either educational value or safety. I wouldn't let my 2-year-old play on half of them for fear of getting hurt. There are "exhibits" where the kids swing on ropes. She wandered right in and almost got clobbered. There is another exhibit where you pull yourself up by a rope, but there is a "pinching hazard" with a big warning sign. What happens if the kid can't read? I ended up pulling her off of that "exhibit" for safety reasons. The rest of the "exhibits" were mediocre. She liked the water feature. The shopping store was pretty standard for children's museums.3) The toddler/infant area was a padded room with 2...yes 2...toys. The plugs were not child proofed and there is a table and chairs blocking the fire exit. Personally I don't like table and chairs in a baby area because babies are learning to pull up. Chair topple (see photo). Lose the chairs and add some toys. There was a padded feature for climbing and mirrors. We drive to Disneyworld at least once a year and are always in search of good places to let the kids get out of the car and play. We agreed we would never stop here again.
Took two boys (5 and 3) explored three floors of fun activities, adults had fun too. Many science exhibits that are hands on for the kids to play with.
I will never again bring my children here nor have a birthday party here. Its suppose to be a "Children's Museum" but your kids can even make any noise during a party. They were so rude when it was time for them to clean up they only gave us 2 minutes to get our stuff out. When I took us at least 5 minutes. We had to take two trips to get our stuff out! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE FOR PARTIES OR JUST TO PLAY! They are SO RUDE! I will take my money to CHUCKIE CHEESE NEXT TIME!
Wouldn't recommend going...the place was dirty, things were broken, place was just not kept. Not sure if it was because of birthday parties going on but dont think thats should be an excuse of why items were everywhere and things broken. The bubble room had no bubbles for the kids to play with too. Wasn't very impressed...dont think I will be going back.
