Altamente recomendada.
Wow! I don't even know where to begin. I was a little under prepared on how difficult of a trek this was. Definitely one of the most difficult or at least longest single day treks I've done. I was asked if i was "a strong walker" , sure why not i thought. In general I consider my self more fit than the average person. This trip, over 8 hours round trip, is almost entirely rock scrambling. In many places the rocks are mossy and damp. There are many points where you take off your shoes to either get a better grip or to keep them dry. As a casual hiker I found this day trip to be very challenging, but maybe for someone very experienced it wouldn't be. The final 20 minutes or so of the trip we walked in the dark but it was flat at this point so i felt no danger. All that being said it was the best hike of my trip and the views of the falls itself makes it so rewarding! I was the first to arrive to got some good pictures. Only 4 other tourist we saw the entire day. My trip guide was excellent but didnt speak a lick of English. If i find his details i post it here.
The most beautiful waterfall you'll ever see in your life. You can swim to it and even try to swim under it (which is not easy).
Chapada Diamantina is a MASSIVE area. So you have to choose your spots wisely if you have under 10days travel time. This without a doubt was the highlight our trip. The difficulty getting there makes it really a worthwhile achievement, 8-9 hour rock climbing and jumping in total. Overall (if staying in Ibicoara) it takes 12 hours travel time - door to door. The waterfall itself is stunning. hidden away in 3 billion year old rocks and vegetation. You do need a guide for this, because choosing the right rocky river pass is difficult. Other than this I recommend Buracao waterfall (easier)
This place is a piece from paradise, just fallen on earth, in the middle of Brazil. If you can go there, just go! You won't regret or even forget!Chapada Diamantina is a place where you have to exercise a lot to get to the gorgeous waterfalls, but it's worth any effort! So, if you have any issues with jogging and climbing, think twice before going, but go!
A Chapada é a Chapada!
Impressive falls in a dramatic setting, with very good walking country. Trails are not marked as in Europe so we used a guided excursion.
