I went to see "The American Sniper" in the smaller theatre, but it was SOLD OUT, so I saw "The Imitation Game" in the larger theatre. This was my first time at the Orpheum, and it was up to my expectations. The lobby is just off the street, and it houses the ticket counter, a small concession stand, and a smaller version of the Vers Restaurant, "Vers at the Orpheum" . This is an excellent compliment to the theatre, because it offers all-day dining for theater-goers, with menu items that are available to enjoy at the lobby bar, or for take-in to the theater. The larger theatre seats about 200+ patrons in very comfortable plush, seats that tilt back, and like most of the live theatres in the area, there is very little slope to seating rows; i.e. it is not stadium seating. The smaller theatre looks like it might seat about 80 or so patrons. The staff up front is very friendly and courteous, and ticket prices are reasonable for the first run movies being presented: i.e. Adut $10 and Senior $7.Chatham Orpheum Theater is a very welcome addition to the Lower Cape, especially after the closing of the cinema in East Harwich. Even if you are here for vacation, the Chatham Orpheum Theater is a welcome oasis to see 1st run movies on a big scree.
The movie theater has recently been renovated at its former site preserving the historical setting with very comfortable seating. There is the mix of first run movies with showing of classics and documentaries in one of the two auditoriums. In addition you have the option of sipping wine as well as other beverages in the theater. A real joy!
Real butter is used on the popcorn which is probably not good for you if you were to go to the movies every day, but for that occasional treat, it is terrific. The theater is cozy and intimate, parking is plentiful and the movie selection is great. This was our first visit and there will be more. It is just fun to visit a small theater which lacks the plastic trappings of the megatheaters at the malls. The selection of independent films is very good. Try it when you are in Chatham.
the hurricane let us try going to the movies on our trip to chatham and we were pleasantly surprised with the lovely theatre - good seats - good air - good movie( the newest out)we´ll be back next time
We have visited this theater several times, it has 2 small projection rooms, extremely comfortable seats with plenty of legroom, fresh popcorn with real butter, beautiful handmade chocolates from a local candy store, first run movies as well as weekly classic specials, family nights etc... and you can bring a glass of wine or beer into the theater with you. And if you're a foodie, don't miss the restaurant Vers below.
Wonderful way to spend an evening at the movies -- dinner before or in the theater, take your wine in with you... nice
We were able to buy our tickets on line before the show, not a huge theatre but plenty of seating. I would arrive at least 20 minutes before show time. It fills up very quickly in the last 15 minutes. Great popcorn. We saw St. Vincent and enjoyed our experience very much. Will go to this theatre again when in Chatham.
Newly renovated theatre with great seats and terrific sound. Place has a very small restaurant attached and a full bar, so you can take your drinks into the show.
What a great little theater. There are usually only two moves showing, but a wide variety of movie times. We also liked the cafe where you can order coffee or a drink and even take it into the theater with you. When we were there, every seat was filled, so make sure you get there early. Not a bad seat in the house and just a great experience. I loved the mural on the wall in the lobby. Nice touch!
Great place to catch a movie. Love the mural on the wall. Lots of wonderful special events like The Sound of Music. Best movie candy - the Chatham Candy Manor cannot be beat! Run with class and heart. I love this place.
