We've been to Chattanooga several times and had never been to the Zoo until today. At first, we were slightly disappointed that it was so small; however, we found that there is plenty to see once you get inside and start exploring. I was most impressed with the maintenance of the grounds, landscaping and facilities. We were disappointed that there were no camel rides - we had seen it advertised and the promise of camel rides was a deciding factor of our visit. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed our visit and would reccommend it to anyone in the area.
My wife and two children spent a day a this zoo a few years ago while it was under some construction. The zoo has just the right mix and amount of animals to give you a feeling of fullness of development and species. But don't come in hungry the vending and food are limited to non existent. I expect our next visit to be an improvement as the zoo is headed in that direction. It will likely be very good rating instead of average next time.
This small zoo has come a long way in the past few years, and is now accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium association. If you are staying in Chattanooga for a few days and are looking for one more attraction to visit after you do everything down by the river, your family will enjoy a zoo visit. It is a little harder to find, about 2 miles away from the riverfront attractions.
Looking at the website I thought this place would be great place to take a 6 year old child. boy was I wrong. Very small zoo with limited selection of animals. With that being said, half the exhibits didn't even have animals in them. It was a complete waste of time and money. do not go.
Very small zoo, well maintained & pleasant. My opinion-it's a one time attraction. Not enough there to make it worth visiting again. Great value for those on a budget.
This was a great way for the wife and I to enjoy an afternoon walk. Being during the week and the time of year it was, it seemed as if we had the place to ourselves.
Zoo was small, but nice. A bit hard to find. Nicely decorated for Haloween. Not incredibly memorable otherwise, just a pleasant hour or two.
We had a good time at the zoo. It's got a pretty diverse set of animals, so it's a good way to spend half a day or so.
Although this zoo is somewhat small compared to other more well known city zoos it was one of the better maintained that I have been to. animals all seemed well cared for and many seemed to enjoy having visitors look at them as they seemed to be interested in looking back at us. takes about 2 hours to go through all the areas. Enjoyed the cats and primates the most.
You can ride camels, what else is there to say. It was a nice size especially for how little the entry fee is. I was expecting it to be smaller.
