I have been an admirer of Jesse's jewelry for years. Imagine my pleasure when I learned that her gallery was moving practically around the corner from me! When that happened I learned that Michael, Jesse's husband, was also an impressive artist, though his media are very different from hers. In addition to their own work, Michael and Jesse carry a variety of works in many media, created by other talented artists. A visit to DaVallia is always a pleasure, a bit like having a personal art museum where many of the works are actually touchable--and ownable! You will recognize the location not only by means of its sign, but also by Michael's impressive sculptures outside it. When you are in Chester this is definitely one place not to miss! In fact, you would do well to visit Chester just to meet Jesse and Michael, and to browse in--and buy at-- DaVallia!
My friends and I took a weekend away up in Chester and found DaVallia during one of our strolls through the town. It was such a great little find! I wanted to take everything home with me. There was gorgeous pottery, woodworking and art that I can imagine being perfect for wedding/housewarming/birthday gifts. Mike was gracious and answered all of our questions. I hope I can make it back up there soon.
We visited DaVallia for the first time by chance. We will plan to return the next time we are in Chester. It was both a gallery and a shop. There were beautiful handmade items in all price ranges. We learned a lot about the area artists. We brought home a wonderful molded glass bowl which we've used at many of our family dinners. Thank you, Michael, for sharing so much of yourself. It made the visit very special.
Jesse and Michael have assembled a vast palette of unorthodox and traditional jewelry, accessories, art and furniture that is a visual feast for eyes that can see. Just walking into the store, the arrangement of its offerings gives the customer a vibe of being transported to a place where the art is alive and vibrant. This eclectic vista can probably be attributed to Michael's photography credentials The proprietors are not pushy in their salemanship, giving customers time and ample opportunity to inquire about the pieces, the artists and materials used. Prices are within reason, given the intricate and unique quality of the pieces been displayed. One can find themselves immersed in this store for hours, perusing its wares and accumulating quite a hoard of eye candy, depending on the arm candy you came in with. For any intrepid flatlander like myself, who wishes to explore the the bucolic environs of Chester, Davallia is definitely a stop that must be made before returning to the concrete jungles of the North East.
This is the perfect place to pick up a gift for someone you love~ including yourself! Beautiful gifts like earrings, bracelets, belts, mugs, wooden utensils, framed art and sculptures are just a few of the great items you will find here. Worth the stop.
A friend introduced me to this lovely gallery of art and handmade artifacts. It indeed feeds the soul and awakens the senses to all that is beautiful and creative! The owners are very warm and welcoming and are delighted to open their doors to all. They are located On the Green and enhance The Green with their presence. Do not miss this charming place if you are anywhere near Chester or do take a side trip to this quintessentially Vermont hamlet.
My friend and I were lucky enough to fine this gem of a store on our getaway trip to Vermont. Wow, what a selection of beautiful, unique handcrafted items. I was shopping for Christmas, but ended up finding a ton of stuff for me. A beautiful cheese board, slate garden makers (with veggies names) and an amazing wooden bud vase. The store was well stocked and all items displayed nicely. Jessie was there to help us, pointed us to a nice new restaurant and wrapped everything for travel. I wish I lived closer so I could be a regular shopper. And the prices.....so reasonable. So to sum up...If you are ever in the area, go to this wonderful gallery/shop. Beautiful items, great prices, wonderful service, and a pretty town.
We stumbled across DaVillia Art & Accents whilst driving from A to B just after Christmas and needed to stretch our legs halfway. What a delight it was to find such a fantastic, fine arts store in this small country town (a rarity these days given tough economic times). We popped in and ended up staying way over an hour as each circuit of the store revealed more options to adorn our own home (with something refreshingly different from mass produced products), as well as gifts for our hosts, birthdays and even next Christmas! Every single person who has seen the items from DaVillia that grace our home, has commented on how unique and beautiful they are. This store is an absolute gem. I don't think the item photos on their website do the store justice. If you want something beautiful, unique and amazingly special for yourself or a loved one, don't hesitate to give this place a look in.Cheers,Leanne & Rob Hankey
This captivating shop sells a variety of locally made crafts and jewelry, all quite beautiful. My trip to Chester, Vermont is not complete without a visit, and usually a purchase.
We were first intrigued when we saw this store's display case in the Guilford, VT visitor's center. When we found out it was only 15mins away from I-91, we couldn't resist. When we arrived, one of the owners, Michael, warmly welcomed us. Originally we were going to stay for a half an hour, but time lapsed and we were there for about 2 hours! It didn't feel like two hours, we were having so much fun looking at the beautiful art and conversing with Michael that time just got away from us. The art work is beautiful and one of a kind. I love how the shop has everything made in America and not all of it is expensive. There is something in there for everyone and the owners are quite accommodating. Also, I love how the owners also make their own artwork - they really have quite the eye. Not only do the owners have wonderful taste in art, but also in food. Michael, recommended a wonderful place to have lunch and believe me we are still thinking about the food there! All in all, we had a wonderful time and I believe me we are willing to make the 2 hour trip just to go back up there!
