They have three nines and unfortunately they were aerating the Lake course and we had to play the Maple for our second nine. The River course was great and the Maple course must have been an afterthought as it was like playing a different course.
This course is a local treasure, Pete Dye design, formerly TRW Country Club. Play the Lake/River only, Maple in nice Executive 9, but should never be forced into the rotation for 18. They love outings, so getting a reasonable tee time, even on the weekend, is rather difficult.
A very nice course. Very nicely maintained. Senior rate appreciated. All 4 of us enjoyed playing there.
You must include a round of golf at Fowlers Mill on your annual to-do list. Often booked for outings and corporate events, be persistent and book a tee-time. During the week is much easier to score a tee time and a good excuse for a "mid-week cold". A tranquil but challenging course. The course plays long and can be made longer if the groupings are a bit stacked. We had the "good fortune" to play just after the course re-opened following some heavy rain, the crowd was light and the weather was mild. Good drainage in most areas. The former TRW Country Club was designed by Pete Dye with the usual rolling hills and obstinate trees and hazards for an added challenge as well as shift changing greens. Beginners will be challenged. A great course to add into the rotation or special trek to NE Ohio. Enjoy the course afterwards too, a decent club house and plenty of outdoor seating too.
Poor planning led to our outting to be pushed off the front nine because a bigger group was about to start with a shot gun start. We stopped in the club house and quickly found out how outrageous the prices were. I'll never eat or golf here again.
Beautiful layout that's challenging on every hole. Water, sand, directional changes will keep every type of golfer on their toes.A must play course.
We played 18 holes for a retirement send off of a colleague at work. I had not played in 5+yrs and found this to be a nice course to get back in to the game. A couple nice challenges in a fairly wooded area. Well maintained and in spite of a chilly rain shower here and there it was nice. Definitely recommend giving it a shot. Nice quiet clubhouse afterward for a Great Lakes pint to quench the thirst built up on the course too. All reasonably priced in a tucked away but very accessible setting.
Fowlers Mill is just an absolute treasure!!! It has 3 9's but the Lake and River are the primes. The cost is a little higher than most public courses, but this gem is definitely worth it!! Every hole has its' own story and are very memorable!! Staff is very friendly!!!
I am not sure this is for rating the course itself or the party center. I was at a winter wedding breakfast at the party center. It was really pretty and the breakfast buffet was good! It was pleasant and bright with lots of windows.
The course was in great shape the last 2 weekends. The layout is fantastic challenging every part of your game. As a public golfer who has played nearly every public track in the greater Cleveland / Akron area I can say definitively this course deserves its spot among the elite in the area. #4, #8, #12, #18 are fantastic golf holes. Prices for the food and beverage are definitely on the very high side of what I have seen relative to other courses. $7.50 for a deli sandwich and $4 for a dog, $3.25 for a 12oz domestic beer.
