Did the paid tour through the distillery. Hands on experience that end with a tasting. You get a chance to see / sample the different brands. We got to sample some bourbon fresh out of the barrel unfiltered. You can also choose to wash to have your own bottle of Knob Creek filled and sealed. This can be picked up after the tour. Each ticket allows you to have two samples, so the more the more people in your group, the more you can taste. Got some Jim Bean labels and got to learn a bit of the Bourbon business.I might recommend doing a couple weekdays if you want do more of the whole trail tour.
What a pleasant surprise this faciliity was on our way through for business. While we only went to the gift shop, the whole grounds had a real quaint feeling. Beautifully landscaped and manicured, the buildings and ground looked like a museum. We didn't have time for the tour, but we went into the tasting room where the gentleman working there gave us a card that allowed us two free taste tests. We ended up each buying a bottle of whiskey while we were there. I went with the maple.Next time we are in the area, I will take the tour as it looked worth the visit.
This was our first distillery tour and we loved it. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Taking a whiff of the fermenting mash inside the huge vats was so memorable! The tasting at the end of the tour was wonderful to top everything off!
The Jim Beam tour was awesome. We did 6 distillery tours, and this one was the coolest, but also one of the most touristy. I personally liked their presentation and exhibit based tour.
Went on this tour for my birthday and had the best time! Learned about the history and process of making bourbon. Even got to taste some! Can't wait for my kids to get old enough to take them.
This is a must see if your in the area. Very informative about the history and the process. The end of the tour is when the fun begins.
The tour is very information and fun along the way. We loved hearing about the history, seeing the architecture and participating in the grain to glass process as well as tasting bourbon along it's journey to the final product. The $10 includes the 90 minute tour, a souvenir glass (7.95 value) and two decent sized pours of your choice including some of the more exclusive ones like the aged Booker's at 128.6 proof.
The tour is well worth the ten dollar price. Theresa was very knowledgeable about the history and the making process. She easily answered all questions the group came up with. So much fun! The tour ends at the tasting room where you get two samples. And making your own bottle of Knob Creek was a blast. Highly recommended!
A fun way to spend 2 hours in Kentucky. The distilling process was well explained, just a shame the tasting is not very personal, but you get a free glass. Overall, no complaints!
I only had time to shop at "The Store" and purchase a couple bottles of Beam for my friends. I go to Bardstown every July and visit the distilleries and take in the open air musicals i.e. "The Stephen Foster Story" and whatever added musical for the summer. The area is a great place to visit plus the Perryville Civil War Battlefield if you are interested. I have only good things to say about the people in the area and it is always a treat to meet very nice and kind folks. I would love to give a SHOUT OUT to Auria at the Jim Beam American Stillhouse, this lady was such a delight in my day. Thank You Jim Beam for having wonderful employees.
