Oldest brick Catholic church in California. 1855 five prominent miners donated their rich claims on Kennebec Hill for the construction of St. Anne's Church. The architect John Wallace was a young surveyor from England.Through the years it has twice been shuttered but local efforts have restored and rehabilitated the historic building. Guided tours provide an insightful look into years gone by.
