I enjoyed what I saw, the main exhibit was interesting and well-done. I particularly enjoyed the restorations and seeing how they were completed in some of the different rooms. A beautiful building full of lovely things. Don't forget to look up, as the ceilings are as lovely as the rooms themselves. On the flip side, I was disappointed that I wasn't able to see any of the other museums. Even the auto museum, which was supposed to be open on the day I was there, was closed. They seem to have odd hours that aren't exactly regular, so be prepared for things to not necessarily be open even if the website says they will be.
This is a fabulous building and worth taking a little detour in Compiègne to see it. It is quite typical of the Town halls in the North of France and is very decorative. make sure you get a photo!
A beautiful building, fantastic facade, really ornate. On the main square, a short walk from Compiegne Palace, made even better because my sister was married there!
Download the free app (details from the tourist information centre at the side of the hotel de ville ) and you will get some interesting historical facts about this building ( and lots of others in the city) which make it come to life
This building site right at the end of the colourful public square in the centre of town is prominent when you drive in. You just can;t miss it. The building is unique in style but is typical of how the French maintain their town halls. The exterior gothic facade is wonderful, with its statue of Louis XIII on horseback in the centre. Adjacent is a miniature figurine museum and a statue of Joan of arc sits in the square.Well worth the closer look.
Typical French architecture, worth the trip to Compiegne alone but the whole town is charming. Plenty of lovely places to eat, drink and watch the worls go by.
Dont get town halls like this in the UKGorgeous exteriorDidnt get to look inside due to tight scheduleSat in pretty square with lovely floral borders and had a glace
