D-Day Conneaut, Ohio – August 16-17, 2013 – by Cynthia A. Sandor This was the first time I participated in such a large Living Historical WW2 event - D-Day, in Conneaut, Ohio, overlooking the beautiful bluffs and beaches of Lake Erie. I portrayed Fraulein Dieter, troop leader of Landjahr Lager based upon my book “Through Innocent Eyes – The Chosen Girls of the Hitler Youth.” Over 20,000 spectators came to watch over 1000 re-enactors commemorate the 69th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy..........To read more click on this link: http://cynthiasandor.blogspot.com/2013/08/d-day-conneaut-ohio-book-signing-event.htmlAuthor Book Signing Information for August 2014: https://www.facebook.com/events/1456922871250631/?ref=22
My husband brought me to his hometown of Conneaut, OH 2 years ago. This was my first time to Ohio and I fell in love. This was one of my favorite spots to come and enjoy what this small town had to offer. We come here every year.
We loved spending the day at Conneaut beach. We have visited on several occasions and it is never crowded, which makes it impossible not to relax and enjoy the spectacular view. The beach itself is very clean, completely free of debris. Also the water is very clean & clear. If you get hungry there is a concession stand & public restrooms as well. We could easily spend an entire weekend or even a week here!
Beautiful park on the edge of Lake Erie. Large pavilions for parties. Beautiful setting with views if the lake. Nice footbridge. The ducks & geese even have little ramps to get themselves out of the pond! Very cute!
I'm one of the reactors that come up from St Louis, Mo. every year and I enjoy it each time. The people in town are great the park is great well worth our drive up and we thank all involved with the d-day event.
Huge beach area, clean park with covered and open picnic grounds. Sorry to have missed the "D-Day Reinactment" this year -- heard it was even bigger that last year.
We took my elderly parents to the Conneaut Township Park and they loved it! We say on the benches "at the top" of the Conneaut Township Park overlooking the beach and beautiful lake drinking coffee! Next, we drove down thru the Park and went to the large boat dock area. We, also, got out there and sat on the benches right beside the water's edge. It was gorgeous! The view from both points of the lake and lighthouse is so pretty! Conneaut's Township Park is a great place to visit!
This is a beautiful beach and park. The bluff overlookes the beachh and harbor area. The view is amazing both on sunny days and those days when the wind is whipping up and the waves are crashing along the breakwall. Something for everyone besides swimming, tennis courts, soccer field, basketball, volleyball, bocce ball area and a neat playground. The walking path is made for beginner to experience walkers. The park is always kept clean and manicured.
This is a clean, large beach with so much going for it. Boardwalks down to a pristine, huge beach area, large playground with lots of stuff for the kids to do, covered pavilion, excellent outdoor restaurant called Pats Lakeside Grill or Pats Grill. She has a large selection of food items. They also carry a large selection of Velvet Ice cream, handcut fries. Really good food, very reasonably priced. There are also large bluffs so you can sit on the bluff and read or watch the lake. Tennis courts, great outdoor wedding spot. You can reserve picnic tables, they have grills.
