You walk the line between the war that rages over your head between the north and south. You hear the death cries of the solides as they die many not understanding how this happend and how is split their country and family. A shinning diamond of a smal first class museum where you least expect it. A thank you to the family whose generosity leaves a legacy of the civil war you should experience. Regroup from the Drama with the Western Art Museum and enjoy and revere the beauty and tributes to our west at the Western Art Musuem located on the Navarro College Campus at Corsicana Texas
I am more of a Revolutionary War buff, but learned a lot in the civil war museum connected with Navarro College in Corsicana. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. I'm glad my Mom and I stopped by on her visit.
Worth a stop, museum/art galley/planetarium ! Enjoyed it very much! Got a sneak peak at the new arrow head wing, will need to come back when it opens, looks to be a great addition to the other attractions!
A great visit for family or students of history. Easy on & off Int 45 or state Hwy 31On Navarro College CampusStay cool in air conditioned from the Texas heat.
Excellent Civil Was museum. Went one time and they had people in period costumes. Very well put together display of Civil War memorabilia.
If you have any interest in the Civil War, this is the museum to visit. You will not be disappointed. It's full of personal letters, artifacts, and maps. Plan to spend several hours here as there is much to see. The western art is a fine collection of mostly recent paintings and sculptures. It's a good collection of the newer western art.
We throughly enjoyed our visit of the Pearce Museum. We appreciated the personal tour by Mr. Brittan. We learned so much about the Civil War. It would have been nice to look at the museum more after his guided tour. Just like any other fine museum, they haven't enough room to display all their artifacts. We understood this and were not disappointed about not seeing everything. We will return, if ever in the area, to see their art collection that was currently on display due to an art show. The art that was on display was excellent especially the graphiteart of horses. Beautiful! Looked like photographs. We were disappointed we didn't see the planetarium. It was closed until Saturday. When we were leaving we noticed that there were men on the roof making repairs. So this may have explained the closing.
Well worth the time to go thru. We were there on a day when we were the only ones in there. Personal tour was wonderful. The man giving the tour was very knowledgeable. The Art exhibit was not open so they just charged us half price which we were not expecting. Very pleasant people.
The museum is on the campus of Navarro college. The address given is a run down residential area. Upon finding the museum it is a very outstanding experience.
This is an excellent collection! They also have a planetarium in the same building and show IMAX movies!
