The talk was extremely informative, and very child-friendly. We got to hear about how the alligator population has thrived with their help, as well as some ending up in burgers! We were told how big their brains are, what they eat, and how the eggs are cared for; as well as how the conservation keeps tabs.We got to see alligators at different stages - 1 year olds and 2 year olds. The member of staff giving the talk got into the pool and picked one up for us to hold (he was a year, and about 5 inches long) - my son helped tape up the mouth.I paid extra to be able to catch & hold baby alligators. The children enjoyed it. I also paid for us to be able to get a photo holding a baby alligator, whilst sat on a wooden mama alligator. This was a bit pricey, especially as it was a 5x7.The shop was in a barn, slightly cramped, but had a lot of items that come from the skins of the alligators they had reared. Bought a t-shirt each for the kids. The postcards weren't particularly interesting.Visited May 2012 (but the earliest in the select menu is October 2013 - sori for any confusion!)
Took the 11 year old who had a great time. The guide was very informative and the kids loved touching and picking up the alligators.
Took the family including my 2 1/2 year old son. The tour guide, Jimmy, really made the tour. He was very funny, entertaining and informative. The tour was very educational and bringing the real purpose of the ranch, conservation, of the American Alligator to light. I definitely recommend getting reservations (military and seniors get a discount) and paying for the "catch a gator" experience. We spent about 20 minutes catching small yearlings in a very safe and controlled environment. This is a far better experience than Gatorland in Florida
Great place to learn about alligators. Kids and adult have an opportunity to have baby gators hatch in August as that is the highlight of the season.
This is a great place for kids and adults a lot of info on the gators and a lot of up close and personal time with them as well everyone should do this
My great niece (4 years old) is fascinated with alligators. During their visit to our home in Louisiana, we decided to take the tour at Insta-Gator Ranch. We had heard some very good reviews of the Ranch from friends. The tour was fun and educational. The staff was wonderful and our guide was great! Our visitors had a blast and we did too. We had our picture taken with a 4 foot gator - a great souvenir of our visit to the Ranch.
My twelve year old son and I went to the insta-gator ranch as part of a day trip while visiting New Orleans. He wanted to hold an alligator and this seemed like the best place to go. The staff was wonderful. Our primary guide was incredibly good with the children on the tour. He seemed to LOVE his job. The younger man who was assisting him was very knowledgable about the alligators. He had thorough answers for the simplest to the most complex questions the tour participants asked. We learned a lot about the alligators and their environment, all while having fun! I highly recommend adding on the extra alligator catching at the end of the tour. It is only $5 ( they have a $2 off coupon available at the Louisiana tourist info center) and it was a blast! Those little suckers are just so cute!
Not sure what side of the bed Timmy P got up on but my girlfriend and I loved this place. We like to see different things, especially nature stuff. My GF was excited to touch an alligator for the first time. Everyone (including the owners!) clearly knew their stuff and were very accommodating. The alligators are well cared for, and their environments are very cool.
This was by far the best trip of our holiday. The guide, Jim, was so funny and really full of fun facts about the gators. I was riveted the whole time. He told us all about the alligators life cycle and answered all our questions We saw videos and then went into the ranch to see the gators up close. We even got to play with the baby gators which are actually very cute with squigy tummies and nothing to be frightened of at all. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and very reasonably priced too. For all ages, I would definitely recommend a trip to Insta-Gator ranch.
This place was great all the way around. I've stopped at a few different gator farms across the south with my kids. This gator ranch tops them all. The guy who gave the tour was awesome. Even when my 3 year old kept trying to take the stage.Their prices are very fare compared to some others, but way more bang for the buck. We will definitely be stopping by there again the next time we're down that way. Call ahead for reservations. We didn't know and happen to show up just before a tour started, thankfully.
