It was a great place to walk around and enjoy the old station.
Excellent place to take the grandbabies! My grand son loves trains, we spent all afternoon just wandering on and off the real train. The rail tracks are right next to Museum so when the real trains cross through the town of Cowan they blow their horns and the kids just squeal!
This is a quality museum for the family. Small and just now getting off the ground, it affords an intimate look at the RR industry in Middle TN. Nice displays of how the system operated over the years.
the title says it all don't know why i have to think up 100 characters to make a review ive read that brevity is the key to clarity and will limit future reviewing so i don't have to come up with things to say just to meet someones artificial limits thank you for reading this although i think it is much too long
Staff VERY friendly and helpful. They know their history. Very nice museum. Museum is slightly out-of-the way but well worth the time to find it. The rail line is still very active and a good place to see trains go by.
Interesting local railroad history. A Sign Board inside the building names the railroad's employees.
This nice little museum is in the small town of Cowan, TN. It is only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was closed on the day we visited but there is a lot of things to see outside the museum so it is worth a stop even when it is closed. I could peek through the windows and see that there were some nice displays inside as well as a history of the important role this railraod station played in building this railroad and in the Civil War.
If you are meandering through Tennessee drop into this museum. The attendants know the history of this particular stop and railroads in general. You get info on the buildings, the restructuring of train movement, view real time tracking of trains and get the social history as well (ie. a Jim Crow stop). And it is free.
The employees of this Museum/Attraction were so friendly. we were the only ones there which was a shame. The area is nice for exploring and if you are in to taking pictures you will not be disappointed. The museum grounds were well taken care of.
Very good display of Railroad artifacts. HO scale railroad display from Nashville to Chattanooga, highlighting the area around Cowan, Tennessee.
