Lovely people. Excellent product. Interesting tour. Worth a visit. Make sore you take your Creditcard because you will want to come home with something beautiful. We did!
Extensive range of alpaca, possum & wool products, including some factory bargains. Good service. Didn't do the tour as ran of time, but looks good so next time.. Highly recommend.
Definitely worth a visit if you are travelling through or staying in Creswick. We didn't do the tour but could see part of the factory from the shop. Instead we made use of our time in checking out all the lovely garments, blankets, bin end seconds, etc. As well as buying clothes on sale we also bought a nice second which will make a lovely throw. We bought two beautiful king sized blankets at a reduced price here some years ago and they're still going strong.
We were to late for the tour but we saw the machines they use to strip , comb the fleece, watched some weaving been done. then went into the shop, things were expensive to buy but well made. They do the blankets for the CFA , and some hotel around we were told. You can see the alpacas and feed them too. Good visit.
We did not do the tour but spent a lot of time checking out the very extensive range of garments made from many different fibres. Some of the alpacca, fine merino, possum, etc jumpers are so soft & the colours modern. It is a large, well stocked showroom so if you are stocking up for next winter or looking for presents it is worth a visit. Some of the top quality garments are quite expensive but are unique.
As a grey nomad & tech geek I did the mill tour to relish the weaving machinery & technology rather than the finished products. I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that my tour price would be deducted from my subsequent purchases so shoppers, be sure to do the tour first. Before leaving, after my second, equally enjoyable, visit I joined their loyalty program and now enjoy discount offers and the opportunity to shop online. Fascinating tour, runs frequently. Great staff, cuddly products. Little visitors relished the Alpaca interaction. Lots of great woollen garments on sale.
Definitely worth a visit if you are driving this way. You are able to buy 'seconds' quite cheaply, and many of the first quality items are also available at a lower cost. Much of the stock is made in Australia (eg the alpaca throws) but there are items that are from overseas so if country of origin is important to you, read the label or ask the staff.
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Creswick Woollen Mills. We got to feed the Alpacas out in the yard which was a great hoot! The range of products on sale was extensive and reasonably priced. My only criticism was there weren't any Alpaca jumpers in my size available (although I eventually found my Alpaca jumper in their Beechworth shop a few days later) . We bought an Alpaca doona, blanket and several pairs of socks. The staff on hand were helpful and friendly.
It is worth the visit when driving around this area to go to the Creswick Woollen Mill. There is a tour of the Mill, a history worth engaging in, Some excellent fabrics and clothes...you wont be able to walk out empty handed, everything is wonderful. and Do make time to hand feed the alpacas..such big eyes. fun!
Interesting to stop at the Creswick Woollen Mills and purchased some lovely warm socks & gloves. They have an extensive range of blankets, scarfs and clothing.
