fabulous cliff walk around mountain, if you are fit enough, you can even climb to the top! nice, wild nature walk with amazing sea view.
Maybe a perfect weather, maybe the september sun, maybe the crowd faded away with the last days of august ... Maybe the amazing pics I took ... Maybe is one of the few corners of paradise you cannot miss to visit in Sicily.
Our walk around this park was marked by a beautiful blue sea on one side and an ashen desolate landscape on the other. The water view really defied description and from above the shore line was a mix of blue and green hues only to be found in nature. Fire had burn off much of the vegetation and this desert-like vista was in stark contrast to the rolling waves of the Mediterranean. The trail itself could be challenging. While not particularly steep, there were a few stretches of loose rock which made descending a little tricky. Likewise, in parts the path consisted of half-buried rocks and boulders that demanded your attention while walking and high-stepping to negotiate. However, when we finished the hike at the eastern end of the park, a refreshing swim in the gentle sea awaited us.
There are several trails - the one I took, around the sea was an easy walk. Each curve revealed gorgeous views. The weather in April was perfect: cool, sunny and breezy. Sunscreen is a must. In summer carrying water would be critical. There is no fee.
and get a smile from the farmer that grows the olives there and maybe even touch that donkey that you heard from far away someday ...it's Italy not New York ..
I have to say we were surprised by this reservation. Many people talk about the close and famous Zingaro reserve, so this one is not crowded at all. You can enjoy it in peace. And the walks/hikes are great - the path along cost is fabulous! Nice views, caves and archaeological sites along + defensive towers and small chappel. Always something to see and something to admire. The path into the hill is very tough in summer day, but might be beautiful in spring or autumn. Italy is famous for quite expensive entrance fess, but Monte Cofano reserve is special - no fees at all and that includes entrance to one of the towers with very good guide by friendly local. He even let u go to the roof and enjoy great view. After that we received nice picture book in English, also for free. Amazing!
Walking those trails and swimming in that crystal blue water was awesome.Would recommend avoiding too hot hours (13 - 16 pm) however.
