we used to stay at the first gold on a regular basis; but lately during the day they have a couple rude dealers that act as if you are sinning and love to take your money. Really they are in the wrong industry if they can't give good customer service.
This Casino like all of the casinos in Deadwood, can only have so many slot machines in each room. If others would notice each room has a name, so to separate them. FIRST GOLD does offer free drinks, coffee, beer or pop to its players, If the other guest would of taken notice there is ticket cashing machines, There are 3 ticket cashing machines, plus the cash window. We have always been treated Great by all personal, if you were not then you must of been a sore looser or extremely rude.
The staff of The First Gold Hotel was completely awesome. We took my 84 year old mother in law to Deadwood and they did an awesome job of going out of there way to help her to get around. A special thanks to Donna for spending her own money to buy a root beer so she could make my wife a root beer float. Also thanks to the black jack dealers, they were hilarious and fun. The Hotel was very clean. They have an awesome breakfast and dinner buffet. If you like crab legs and prime rib, that's the place to go. I really like the layout of the casino, lots of games to play and lots of room to get around. There is always some kind of giveaway going on from money to ipads to cars. They even have vans to help you get around from the main hotel and casino to the second hotel, which is very nice for the older folks. Special thanks to Terry and his crew for giving us a great family getaway!!!!!!!
My husband and I went to Deadwood for our first anniversary we stayed at first gold hotel and casino it had the most amazing staff and shuttle the buffet was awesome the prime rib was amazing, the staff couldn't do enough for you and were very helpful the rooms were very comfortable and extremely clean.
First Gold has a relaxed atmosphere, casual decor, and down-home food on the buffet. The gaming is similar to all casinos, and the motel has small rustic rooms with a western motif. We have stayed here several times, and have always found it to be clean and comfortable. The staff members are truly outstanding. They call many folks by name, and are always attentive to the needs of their customers. I especially would like to commend Leslie at the hotel desk, and several of the wait staff for their friendly service!
The casino is to small and not enough machines and you can't smoke in any of them. A long wait to get cashed out. They should put in ticket cashing machines. Free drinks to all gamblers.
Nice and clean. No one attended lobby desks. Called and got immediate service for extra pillows though. Shuttle down to casino and buffet or could walk. Quiet end of town. Would stay again.
Stayed here while in Deadwood. Nice room, good food, fun casino. This was our base for our other travels around the area.
Small dated rooms. Not very clean. Beds were very uncomfortable. No water pressure in the shower. No shuttle pick up. Just not the greatest!
My wife and I spent about 12 hours on the road and held off eating dinner - anticipating some of the advertised Prime Rib Buffet. We quickly checked into our room and then found out that the buffet ended at 8 p.m. We called the hotel front desk and asked about it and were told that they would seat people until 8 p.m. - that left us about 20 minutes yet. We loaded the hotel shuttle at 7:45 for the quick 3 minute trip to the main casino and buffet restaurant. When we walked through the door at 7:48 we stopped at the front desk and inquired where the buffet was located. The lady at the counter (Tracie) told us that it was closed. We looked at the clock on the wall which clearly said 7:48 and told her that we were told they would seat us until 8:00. She responded, "it's only open for 5 more minutes - so you can't eat there. There is a Deli just around the next corner (of the casino) that serves burgers, fries and other things." She pointed into the casino. She was very apathetic and blatantly rude! (Just a side note - when I was in the restaurant business, we seated people till closing , then we locked the doors. The people that were seated then got our full and complete service until they decided to leave...that may have been even an hour later, but that's the nature of the people service business. That's why this made me so angry!)For the next 7-8 minutes my wife and I wandered around the casino looking for this "Deli".Finally we stopped at the desk of the buffet entrance to ask directions to the alternative eatery (it was still a couple of minutes before 8 yet). We were then told that the Deli wouldn't open for another 35-40 minutes! They refused to let us participate in the buffet and then wanted us to sit around for another 40 minutes to wait for them to open the Deli? I don't think so! That was the final straw...we were hungry and had waited long enough to eat! We took our business and money to the Sports Cafe next door! The First Gold definitely lost out - on the $17 per person we would have paid to eat for a mere 15 minutes and now the negative post on Trip Advisor! On our return back to our hotel (through the casino) I tried to stop and talk to the General Manager, Steve, but he apparently is out of town and was told that nobody else was there to handle any complaints. I was simply handed an "Experience Card" to fill out; trust me - it WILL get filled out! I would not expect any business that refuses your money to last long. I for one will NOT be back!
