I went here for the first time for the Museum after dark event. The museum is a nice size and there are a lot of interactive exhibits. What surprised me most was all the space exhibits. There is a giant rocket outside too. There are animal exhibits and weather stuff also. I would go back. Good place for kids.
We have taken our grandkids here lots of times and we are always amazed at the caliber of the travelling exhibits. Interesting to toddlers to teens alike, as well as adults who get caught up in one exhibit or another. The outside music exhibit is great fun. The walk with the dinosaurs is enlightening. Visiting the bears and lemurs is always enjoyable. Sailing the boats on the pond and other science experiments with wind are great teaching tools. The butterfly pavillion rivals the best of others we have visited. The little train is a must for the young and young at heart.
From toddlers to grandparents, there is something for everyone! The butterfly house is always great! It does require a short walk so anyone who may need assistance should ask at admission desk.
Lots to do! Easily can spend 5 or more hrs in this great place! Staff is super friendly! Train ride is cool! Prepare to walk a few miles as well....
A very manageable childrens museum. Must stop if you're in the area with < 12 yr olds. Fun place to learn and play
This is a discovery type museum. Kids love this place. There are more interesting things to see and touch. It`s a hands-on museum so kids can learn and explore. There is a butterfly house where you can watch the butterflies come out of their crisylis and prepare to fly. There is also a miniature train to ride around the outer complex to view some of the animals on the property
The museum has a lot to offer. Our daughter is 8 years old. She enjoyed the sound area, contraption area, the entire second floor and the butterfly garden. She also got to play in the 'Frozen' area.We could not finish exploring all of it. So we will definitely be back. The cafe within the museum was great.
Museum has something to interest all ages. Indoor exhibits and hands displays. Outdoors offers play ground, animals and a train ride for the little ones. The butterfly house is very cool and the walk through the woods to see the dinosaurs is vary fun.
We went in February and there were NO crowds. We thought the butterfly house was awesome. We rode the train, saw the new construction taking place, saw the red wolves up close and the black bears. They had a MUCH better dinosaur display then the museum in Raleigh. The cost of this whole museum was the cost of the dinosaur display in Raleigh. We got to actually dig for sharks teeth and other fossils brought in by a mining company. Please go there and bring the kids. It is wonderful and offered so much for the kids to do of all ages.
This place is awesome. I have been here on many class trips and more times with my grandsons. So much to offer for all ages- indoor and out. The dinosaur trail is a huge attraction for the little ones. Into The Mist is a fun way to cool off on a hot day. Beautiful farm area. Sail boats are lots of fun if not too crowded. I understand the summer camps offer a lot. Don't forget the butterfly house. So many things to see all over. Really can't do it all in one day. A fabulous place Durham is lucky to have.
