Did not stay at the inn, but rented a boat there. The staff at the desk was very nice. We went to the marina rent a boat. I called for a boat to pull a tube...assumed ski boat. Went to the dock, me, the father and 2 teenage daughters. They gave us a pontoon boat with a 2 person tube. We had a great time on the lake until the Natural Resources Police stopped us on the lake. Apparently we were illegal. I was driving the boat, with my 2 teenage girls on the tube. The pontoon boat did not have mirrors. The law is, if you are pulling someone one a tube, you have to have mirrors or someone older than twelve watching the tube. I was turned sideways in the seat, watching. But at the marina, I was never informed of this. The police said it was not the responsibility of the marina to tell me. So i received a 170 dollar fine.So I returned to the marina a little upset. I asked the manager about law requiring a mirror if I am towing 2 kids on tube, with just me driving. He responded by saying, he is not required to explain the boating laws to everyone who rents a boat. I responded, still being civil, that if you knew 3 of us were going on a pontoon boat and we had a 2 person tube, then we would be illegal. The manager responded by pointing his finger in my face, stating "you people don't even have time to wait for directions" Exact words. I responded saying that us people are your customers, whom without, you would have no business. And i kept trying to explain, 3 people, 1 adult, 2 teenagers and we rented a 2 person tube, it would have been nice to been told it was illegal. He continued to say its not his responsibility. I will admit ignorance of the law is no excuse, but common courtesy would have been nice if you knew we were breaking the law, not a finger pointing in my face. Very disappointed at the response by the manager.
It was a great day out on the lake until we returned to the dock. We went on an all day trip that had our family swimming and fishing throughout the day all over the Lake. Once we returned the Pontoon Boat it was inspected and some fishing line was found on the prop. No big deal we thought! WRONG, they charged us close to $300 to get the fishing line removed. Unbelievable! Anyway, I would NOT recomend this place to anyone. It's a rip off joint.
Rooms too small, oversized furniture for rooms. Parking is terrible. The breakfast is real good. Years ago they use to serve lunch , wish they still did.
We've been to the Pigeon Forge area tons of times! We were looking for something different to do. We were riding around the Dandridge area and found this Marina. We inquired about renting a pontoon boat and made plans to rent one for the afternoon. We packed our picnic lunch, gathered all our stuff and headed to the Marina. We were met by very friendly folks, helped with our "stuff" to the boat, and sent us off on our excursion. We found the boat very clean and it ran beautifully. We toured Douglas Lake for 4 hours. We stopped for a picnic lunch in a cove and enjoyed the quiet rocking and the covered area of the boat. No trip would be complete without jumping into the COLD water for a quick swim. Getting in and out of the boat was easy and our 1 1/2 yr. old cried to leave such a fun day on the water. We will definitely be back to do this all again the next time we are up here.
From start to finish, we had a lovely experience. Reservation person was helpful, pleasant and accommodating as could be. Boats were awesome. Plenty of room, storage, life preservers, shade or sun, easy to navigate, power, and lake is large enough to have fun and explore a wide range of visuals... whether lovely homes or remote coves. And for the size and quality of the pontoon boat, the price was very competitive. Will DEFINITELY be renting from MHM again!!
Very friendly!!! Had boat clean and ready! Check in was easy! The lake was beautiful! Very nice place!
I can't say enough good things about Mountain Harbor Marina. We had reservations from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on a Wednesday. We were at Dollywood the day before so we called them and told them that we were going to be late and wouldn't be there until around 12:00 p.m. and we were fine with the fact that we'd only be getting the boat for 7 hours instead of 8 as it was our fault. It was really easy to find. When my husband went to check in, they offered us the boat from 12:00 - 8:00 so we could enjoy the full 8 hours that we paid for. Super nice of them to do!!! After my husband did all of the paperwork, we were shown our boat and a young kid, I think his name was Matt, helped carry all of our stuff onto the boat. We knew he wasn't just doing it to be nice and that he worked for tips but he was a nice kid, nonetheless. We asked for and paid for a tube for 2 hours and told them that we'd probably bring it back after the 2 hours but we were having so much fun that we ended up keeping the tube for an additional 3 hours. After we got back, they didn't even charge us for the extra 3 hours and we could have probably kept it out the entire 8 hours without them charging us. We tubed for a while, swam a little and fished a little. Even though nobody in our party caught anything, it truly was one of our best days in the Great Smokey Mountains. Thank you Mountain Harbor Marina!!! We would recommend you to anyone!!!
Went on a one hour boat ride with history lesson. Everything I saw and learned tells me this is a place to come back to in warm weather, including fishing.
This was our second time renting a pontoon boat on Lake Douglas from the Marina. We had such fun last year, we want to do it again. We had a great time and even got the same boat. We took a picnic lunch and enjoyed our 4 hours on the water. The boat was clean and ready to ride. Covered area was great for the baby to nap and to get out of the sun for lunch. We plan on going back next month and doing it again!
We were staying over at the inn and rented a boat for a couple of hours before going home. Everyone here is friendly and helpful. These folks will also rent boats for just two hours which was good in our situation because we did not have the entire day to spend on the lake. The boat was nice but it was missing a radio and depth finder that we have had on rentals from other places not to mention some others have had a fish finder on board. To be fair they did tell us up front that boats had no radio. Before you rent here though be sure to call about their gas prices. Instead of just filling up the boat at the end of your time and charging for what you use they charge an extremely high (in my opinion)upfront fee for fuel. Our price for a two our rental was around $55 (we got a 10% discount for being inn guests) but fuel charge was $39 when we used less than a quarter tank of fuel. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt and try to believe I wasnt getting ripped off because our stay at the inn was incredible and I thought it was reasonably priced. To be fair I did not ask for an explanation I just paid and took the boat. They may have been able to justify it if I would have asked. I am certainly not saying don't rent boats from here because the experience was good, just call and confirm the total price so there will be no surprises.
