Great place to watch the sunrise. There are little tiki huts to sit in. Very cute! Lots of fisherman, but still very nice.
More on the smaller size when comparing to FLL beaches, when looking from parking lot to water, but ample parking and a nice restaurant nearby. There is a pier nearby, which we didn't go on. But it also has a bath house, bathrooms and beach shower stands which come in very handy when spending a day at the beach.
Just spent a couple of hours at Dania Beach. When we were in Florida last year we visited the beach in Fort Lauderdale and what a difference. In Ft. Lauderdale we had to drive around for about 1/2 hour waiting for a parking space. At Dania there was plenty of parking at $2 per hour. It was not crowded and the water and beach were very clean.
Great diving area; we went with a diving club there for full-moon night dives, and the dive was simply beautiful. Check it out! After a day/night at the beach, check out Arubas for some good food which is on the North end of the beach.
The Dania Beach park has great access and parking. It is easy to find. This beach is not crowded. When I visiited there was a lot of seaweed and other ocean trash washed up on the beach. The beach was steep in some areas down to the surf. If you like uncrowded beaches, I would recommend this one. Nice walking and relative solitude. If you are looking for pretty people to watch, you won't find them here.
The beach was not crowded surprising as this is the snowbird time. It was clean and parking was available nearby in the lot, and it was only $1.50! The only downside was there were not bathrooms on the beach or changing rooms but they were available across the street.
Go to Fort Lauderdale Beach and don't bother with Dania Beach. I found it to be very dirty and a lot of strange people. Waste of my time and didn't feel safe there. I won't go again.
I absolutely LOVE Dania Beach. It's a smaller, quiet and low-key. It's location close to the airport makes it great for stopping to get some sun for a couple hours before heading to the airport. I've been going to Dania Beach for years now because my grandmother lives near there! I've spent spring breaks in college on that beach (we were a mellow bunch looking for a relaxing beach spring break) to now traveling down to Florida for work often where I always try to make it stop at Dania Beach. You do you have pay for parking, but credit cards are accepted by the machines. Highly recommended!
Dania beach was very quiet with some shade available. Under the huts/trees was quite littered with garbage/cigarette butts. The parking is very expensive @ $2.00/hour.
