The hike into and out of the inner canyon is only done by <1% of visitors to the canyon. While the view from the rim is obviously an experience in itself. The walk into the canyon and views and serenity and wildlife cannot be described. As others on this site have stated - do your homework and BE PREPARED - I was ready for the hike - down 4-5 hrs. and up 11 hours - (we camped overnight in the Bright Angel Campground - highly recommended) - we had plenty of water, and food, most people forget the food issue, you burn lots of calories. What surprised me was the altitude issue. Climbing up you are at 6-7,000 ft. it is hard to breath... Do not take the hike for granted. We had to carry a marathon runner we found on the trail, down for a while until we found shade for her!!! And drowned her in water from our bottles. Our night camping along side the flowing creek in the quiet of the inner canyon and the beautiful star filled sky will never be forgotten.. Bucket list this!!! The best part was doing it with my two grandsons - Wyatt and Logan 15 and 13. A lifetime of stories to share.
This trip was one we will be talking about for years to come! It is definitely not for those afraid of heights or with a fear of animals. We spent the night on the South Rim prior to our trip and highly recommend doing so since the morning start is very early and you have to check in for a "weigh in" and to pick up gear the afternoon before the trip.We had a private cabin down at Phantom Ranch and would definitely like to visit again, but will stay at the bottom on the canyon longer next time.
this one was tougher with the high heat, broken water line on the toughest part of our S to N hike. Really need to be prepared with large water carrying capacity, food, weather changes so you want to travel light but survival should take precidence. Ribbon Falls was a stop this time and well worth, especially to get proposed to as my daughter did.
The entire Grand Canyon experience is amazing if you take the time to hike a trail or go beyond a few minutes viewing it behind the Visitor's Center. The canyon is an incredible place that one could spend days or weeks touring. Definitely take your time, drive yourself and get out on some trails. You won't regret it!!!
Most people will only see the rim views, but if you are semi fit make the time and go for a walk. We walked to the bottom and spent the night and the journey was incredible. Breathe taking views along the way made the journey feel easy. The route was surprisingly gentle and had been designed well
A definite bucket list activity, you do need to be trail fit but it is so worth it. Looking down the canyon from the silver bridge is a place where you certainly recharge the batteries for the soul.
Saw this on the mule trip. Had never even seen pictures of this before. Oh Jesus corner, hells furnace! Wow! Unbelievable views. Probably three and a half hours from top of trail. I'll never forget this.
Seeing the canyon from inside looking up is an unusual and amazing way to view this structure. The colors of everything seem to change - from the trees (they're greener!) to the rocks, to the ground cover. There are also some fauna to see, like some deer and other animals. The hike down is challenging, and to get down to the main plateau is a 4.5 mile trip each way (so 9 miles minimum), with about 3000 feet of elevation gain on the way back, and it's significantly hotter at the bottom (20-30 degrees F hotter). If you're an experienced hiker, try to hike down at least to the plateau area, maybe a mile or so further, and soak in this beautiful canyon from a perspective that most don't ever see.
大峡谷国家公园正好免门票,非常幸运。科罗拉多河冲刷下,形成了特殊的地貌,荒凉而壮阔,岩石在夕阳的照射下,反射出血红的光芒,让人如痴如醉。
See and touch the colorado river were the best! the freezing water, hear his powerful sound were amazing!!!!
