Had two great nights in o Donnells bar in Derry at the weekend,it was packed but staff were well up to looking after the crowd, music was as good as you would get anywhere, but on like Dublin they did not rip of people, keep it up o Donnells hope to be back soon.
Everytime we visit Derry we end up here and it's always friendly with traditional Irish music with great service and sometimes very busy
You can't go wrong with visit to Peadar O'Donnells Bar. We were recommended by a patron at Badgers. They pour a good pint and provide local entertainment. Sit outside or inside at the bar. Really cool place if you're looking for a traditional Irish bar experience.
From the staff to the local patrons, this bar is a winner. We stayed in Derry for 2wks with frequent visits to Peadar's and experienced it from quiet to crazy. This is the kind of pub you see in the minds eye when someone describes a pub to you in Ireland with beer glasses full of the finest stout and feet stomping to great Irish tunes.
A real Irish pub, real irish music, real irish people. Lot of people inside, normally, but it's impossible stay out! Rebel songs, pint of beer, perfect evening!
Visited recently on a Thursday in March which appeared not to be the high season in Derry, to say the least, but enjoyed our drink at Peadar O'Donnells. Really interesting decor; note the many separatist and resistance group flags (Quebecois, Basque, etc) hanging from the ceiling - definitely carries some interesting weight in this part of the world!
There needs to be more stars when rating this place. Amazing does not even cover it. Just back home from a 2 week holiday to Derry and me and the girls were there nearly every night. BEST pub EVER! Loved the atmosphere, drinks, people, bartenders, security workers, and awesome live Irish music that was performed nightly. Even meeting the owner who was behind the bar a couple of the nights serving drinks with a smile on his face. When you think of an Irish pub this is exactly what I think of. Quiet with locals during the day where you can sit around and have a chat, and Irish music that gets the blood pumping where you just want to get up and dance an Irish jug, even if you are not Irish. This is one place that I would highly recommend as a must for all travelers. You would be missing out on a great experience if you skipped it.
We visited Peadar O'Donnells for one pub evening at the recommendations of Eli at the Abbey B&B. We were not disappointed. Stayed til close and walked home- very satisfied having a taste of true Irish Pub Music washed down with a few Guinesses. The Barman was one of the most efficient I have ever seen and took time to have a chat while providing quick service for everyone. As we were only in Derry for one night we couldn't return but will definitely return on our next trip to Ireland
We met family and friends in her for a catch up, brilliant pub with great music, lots of history in here, love it.
