Our 2-year-old daughter was in heaven here. She enjoyed playing on the swings, slides and bouncing animals. Then she tore off her shoes and socks to run down to the beach, where she stared in awe at the waves. The huge beach was relaxing and impressive. We loved it, too.
This is a large hilly, well groomed park with a great ocean view. Picnic, relax, exercise or play. Street parking and beach access.
There are several places to get, great restaurants in the area, Power house park is a nice safe place to walk on the sidewalk along the ocean ,and grass area. They also have summer concerts...FREE
After eating in the many good restaurants in Del Mar, our friends invited us for a picnic on the beach. It was lovely. We brought our own blanket and chairs so didn't use the picnic tables in the green area. Since it was a very sunny warm day, there were quite a few people all around but not so many that we couldn't find a quiet spot. A couple several feet away from us even got engaged on the beach with flowers and all! Charming.
The beach itself was very pretty and well maintained. The grass leading up to the beach was a bonus and again well maintained. There is a snack bar and 2 resturants next to/on the beach. You can walk on the way to the beach from this beach. Lots of public access to get to this beach. A couple of blocks from the beach to Downtown Del Mar. There were lots of surfers and swimmers. Well work your time to go there.
Great place for a BBQ, picnic or a day at the beach. Well supervised for kids learning to surf or boogie board. Parking is a bit of a pain... but if you are creative you can usually park close enough for free.
Great walk and views of oceanWas told in summer they have free outdoor concertsGreat restaurants nearby and beach provides great walkFun watching surfers
This is a small park perched on the bluffs over the Pacific in the middle of Del Mar, about 2 blocks walk from the main intersection of 15th and 101. It is a small park that slopes gently down to the north, with a few walking paths and grassy areas for picnicking. It is popular for weddings. To access the beach, one must walk across the railroad tracks at the designated crossing area and then beach access is easy. Be aware that the trains come rather frequently and the air horn sounds north of Powerhouse Park but the train comes very fast and relatively quietly - so take care when walking along the paths.
We spent a lot of time sitting on the bluff of Powerhouse Park looking for whales. Nice facilities. Plenty of green. Great access and parking.
Walked this park every evening to watch the sunset. Views were amazing. Park is beautifully maintained. Lovely to see so many people enjoying the outdoors. Can't wait to go back.
