After spending the day around the canal, we set off on a walk down a trail by the lake. Little did we know it would be one of the highlights of our trip. We walked as far as the Leif Eriksson park and the rose garden. What a happy surprise. The walk back at sunset was beautiful.
Just a cool/neat little area to walk around, shop, lala gag, or visit with friends. Enjoy the scenery and relax.
If you're looking to spend some leisure time, I would recommend the lake walk. It begins at Canal Park. and winds way up the shore. Start at the piers. Spend some time there. Then, head on up to the rose gardens.
A bald eagle came down and sat on a big chunk of ice, caught a fish and went up by the lighthouse and ate it. It was the highlight of my trip since I was on a birding bus trip. It is walkable even in the winter months. Great time seeing all the different gulls and ducks also.
The Lakewalk is a great attraction in itself. The views are great and there is some history. There are historical markers along the walk and a number of war memorials. If you are on the Lakewalk, the Aerial Lift Bridge and Maritime Visitors Center are at the east end of the Walk. These attractions are both "must see's" and make the Lakewalk even better.
This is a great activity to do outdoors in Duluth, particularly if you are on a budget. During the winter months it can be chilly, but during the summer it is a great walk with amazing views.
Beautiful area! We have a lot of fun renting bikes in the summer. Always lots to see and do here. Good for a short or long walk; could spend half an hour or all day!
We went for a beautiful lake walk early in the morning in late October. Lake Superior & the Ariel Bridge were great to see in the morning sun. We tried to go for a walk the night before but it was SO windy the lake looked more like an ocean than a lake. What a difference a few hours made. The boardwalk itself was pretty slippery because of the frost so be careful!
Fun to walk and look at Lake Superior. Many entry point and walk at will. Never super crowded and a must do if you are nearby. Walk a couple of blocks or a couple of miles. Watch the ships and sailboats in season. See the Lift Bridge in the distance.
This is a nice paved trail with good surrounding scenery and offshoots to restaurants and other destinations. You can start at the Canal and make it to the Leif Erickson Rose garden in less than an hour.
