Beautiful overlook scenery. There are areas to stop and observe, but the view is very tempting for the driver to take his/her eyes off the road. Anyone in your car afraid of heights (my wife) should be put in the trunk. LOL
We did a small section of the parkway drive and still seen quite a bit. There are a number of trails and natural areas just off of the road that make it a good relaxing attraction.
Wouldn't want to try this drive in the winter. Best in the summer. An automatic transmition was greatly appreciated too. Stopping at the lookout made the ride a reason to get to the destination
Such a beautiful drive. You see Duluth in a different light. Hawk ridge is a great viewing place. The only thing is not much parking to get out and enjoy the view.
The most beautiful car ride you will ever go on! The road has a super long stretch that views Duluth from every angle.
Drive slow. Take the many non-railing guarded corners with care. Enjoy the view of the North Shore, Lift Bridge, Bay, and St. Louis River. There are a few places to pull over and park if you want to take pictures. The view is just as beautiful at night as it is during the day.
What we did see was gorgeous, but we didn't see much. When our family took the drive, it was hard to see anything of the city through the thick greenery. (There was also road construction which made the road markers hard to follow - August 2014).Our best views were actually from the rest stop/scenic overlook when you come into Duluth from the south, so if you don't fully trust your gps try that instead. As another reviewer noted, I wouldn't attempt in the winter.
Skyline parkway has some beautiful scenic overlooks. One of my favorites is by Enger Tower. There are three overlooks in succession that have a expansive view of the east and west side of Duluth, the St. Louis bay and Lake superior. While there Enger tower is a sight to see and the trip to the top offers 360 degree panoramic views. From there to the west past piedmont avenue is another nice overlook of the West end of Duluth. Definitely worth the drive.
A beautiful view from on top of the hill. Lots to see and different perspective of Duluth living. I would recommend it
Skyline Parkway starts at Co Hwy 3. We had a real easy time of finding it with the map we had from our hotel. Great scenery along the way. Too bad they were doing construction on some parts. Had to back track and find our way around the construction. Had plenty of signage telling you where to turn. We continued on to the Seven Bridges road and this is a must see also.
