This is a nice park to go to during the day. It used to be a hangout for teenagers after dark, so there was graffiti and cans and bottles there all the time. I gave it another try and it seems like it's been cleaned up.
This is a small but very beautiful and peaceful place to spend some time looking at beautiful roses while surrounded by the beauty of old historic downtown Decatur homes. I love to go by here in my spare time. It is a place to just sit and enjoy nature or even take a walk around the parks walking path.
This was a pleasant surprise for my wife and I. Park is sectioned with walkways to view flowers and plants. There are benches if you just want to sit and relax for a while.
I live just a couple of miles from this park and go there often to take a stroll. It was a nice gravel walking trail that circles the park. There is a small water park for kids to play in during the summer months. One are gets extensive attention with beautiful flowers and bushes. Baseball and softball fields are also located here. Covered pavilion with tables and benches are available. Great place to relax. Check it out!
Delano Park is a surprising Oasis in the middle of SE Decatur. It is encircled by a nice rolling walking track that is partly shaded for a nice morning or evening walk. The splash park at the SW corner is ideal for small children. The well maintained meditation garden west across 8th avenue is surprisingly peaceful but only 2 blocks off 6th avenue. I thoroughly enjoyed a morning walk there several morning during my stay.
I like to walk this neighborhood and I always walk through here and visit the roses. I haven't seen a wedding here but I am sure there is a lot you could do.
this neighborhood is so beautiful- esp at Christmas! the homes are in a decorating contest and this park is right in the middle of these old homes/neighborhood! great flat place to walk/fun and for kids to play
A quiet, small park. good for a 1/2 hour visit. Only 1 block from the splash pad, where your children will have a blast. Both are free. Both are safe.
Beautiful magnolia trees and friendly people are found throughout this historic park. Well worth the wandering.
Over the past few years, the City of Decatur has made some improvements to this park. My young granddaughter enjoys the new playground. Many people walk or jog on the path. (I think it is about a mile long.) The rose garden area looked well cared for the last time I was there.
