If you need any type of food, it's here. Everything from wine to fish, apples to oranges, avocados to kiwis, it's all here. Bring your cash or debit card. Charge cards not accepted.
Anything good wise you could want is here. Have patience because it's always busy but check out their wine, produce and fish sections. Take your time and stroll through the store. It's a place to meander and look at all the things you haven't seen.
I love the price, quality of the spices I friend of mine shopping there a lot and I finally took a chance to go there . It's awesome !
Note: This is a very large food store and not a market with local farmer products. I have been going to the DeKalb Farmers Market off and on for over 30 years. Yes, I know it's crowded on the weekends and the prices aren't always as competitive as they used to be. I still like the idea of buying organic and being able to have a wide range of vegetable choices that aren't available at the chain stores. Anyone who has been there recently will notice that a lot of dirt has been moved and they are getting ready for a major expansion. It's about time. The biggest downside is that they don't offer paper products and a wide range of everyday items; it's always necessary to pick those up somewhere else. It's kind of difficult in the South to shop multiple stores on hot summer days. I'm looking forward to seeing what is offered when the open the new building. Note: this is not a good place to bring young children. It can be really, really crowded.
The market is great. It also has the best display of spices you could ever want - at a very reasonable price.
We were camping at Stone Mountain and wanted to cook a nice dinner for New Years Eve. Several friends recommended the very short drive to the Farmer's Market. This is an experience unlike any other. It is about the size of a superwalmart and has anything and everything you could ever think of needing! We purchased some fresh produce and some filet mignons for dinner- the quality of the meat was outstanding. I sent my husband to get some shrimp and he came back several minutes later empty-handed asking me which of the seven types of shrimp I wanted. It was THAT awesome. I'd like to go back with lots more time to simply browse but from prepared foods to fresh items and even spices, wine, flowers and baked goods this place is phenomenal!! Cash or Check Only!!!
Amazing market with food from around the world. Small cafe, bakery, and prepared foods also. If you eat....
If you live in the metro Atlanta area it is worth taking a drive to the Dekalb Farmers Market. The name is misleading as it not really a farmers market but a produce store where you can find many different produce items from around the world. They also have an extensive selection of fish, meats and bakery items. Prices on produce are higher than standard supermarkets but the fish prices are better then the average store. What we enjoy is it is an experience. A melting pot of customers from many different countries. Note that is is cash only and parking is a mess.
A world's worth of delicious and fresh foods all in one place. I have been shopping here for over thirty years and it is still one of my favorite places. I now live several hours away but still visit several times a year to stock up on extremely affordable herbs and spices. The market has such a variety of products. There are fresh baked goods, dairy, seafood, deli, ready made international salads, fresh produce and more.
This is the most remarkable place - filled with an amazing cacaphony of foods and people from all over the world. If you're a serious shopper who wants to avoid crowds, try a week day morning before 11. However, if you are curious and want a real adventure then brave the week-end crowds and be jostled through a wonderful array of folks - just bring your smile and your patience. The food in the restaurant is always good and provides an opportunity to try some new dishes & recipes from other countries - at fantastic prices. The wine prices & selection are hard to beat - especially if you buy a mixed case & get the 10% discount. We've shopped here and watched the DKFM expand over the past 30+ years. It is a real blessing & treasure to our community.
