enjoy the fishing. Just head out of town and fish your way back in. There is a fishing area just about 1/4 mile out of town.

The Beaverhead River near Dillon Montana: May 27: the season starting slowly, no significant hatches. Try orange Ray Charles or olive pheasant tail, gray scuds this week. As flows improve and temperature rises, feeding strikes will be triggered. These fish are large, don't be afraid to use 3x tippet. You won't get as many strikes but you will be able to land the big ones. Caught 3 trout over 20 inches and a really huge whitefish. Orange/pink Sanjuan worms on the lower river. Best guides on river are Tim Mosolf out of Justin Hartman's Tightline Adventures and Cody Benzel out of Frontier.

Have to admist a bit of prejudice, as I live along the banks of the Beaverhead. But for river controlled by a Dam (Clark Canyon), it's a pretty sweet one. Something for everyone. Good fishing, good boating. Nice scenery. Lots of short day floats available. Pretty dependable water. Easy boating. Good access from FWP sites. Favorite thing to do: either a spring boat trip right before may 1 to look at the all big fish before the season opens, or a quick splash and dash trip in the heat of summer.

Terrific river. Better fished from a boat, but there is bank fishing to be had. Fish Tales outfitter's Michael Stack would be a great choice. He's very good and works hard to provide clients an excellent day of fishing.

Drift fished 2 sections of the river on 3 different days with excellent guides from Frontier Anglers. Caught many (lost count) fish both drivting and from a few stops along the banks. Fish ranged from 9" to over 20" and were healthy and beautiful. Will do this again.

Such a great spot to walk, scenery amazing, picnic areas available and such a peaceful are of Dillon.

The river was filled with grass when we were there, but the fish are in there. Go into this expecting to clean your hook alot.
