Wonderful views from the wall. Interesting to see the chart of the damage done to roofs from shelling during their conflict. The guard towers make for amusing pictures. We were there in the summer: SUNNY & HOT. Love the little fish available at most restaurants in the city.
first of all i would like to say that croatia is one of the best places in europe and dubrovnik is just so scenic. the city ancient walls is one of the best attraction which gives u amazing view of the city. incide therz an ancient city with heritage buildings full of pubs restaurants ice cream parlours shopping centres and outside u can have a view of d blue sea. so dubrovnik is a place u should visit.
Where do I start - this is one of the most stunning views you will ever experience. Dubrovnik is stunning in general - every turn of an alley serves up a feast for the eyes. Once you have discovered some of it on ground level you absolutely must walk the perimeter on the old city walls.Starting at the Polce Gate (it looks like a drawbridge entrance above the harbour) is the best way to do this. This way you hit the hardest (and highest) parts of the wall first and then enjoy a much easier walk once you have past about 20% of it. The whole thing takes about 45mins to an hour depending on how fast you move and to be honest it is appropriate for most fitness levels (it really looked much harder than it really was). The wall walk offers the best jaw dropping views of Dubrovnik and the surrounding alcoves and we guarantee it will leave you stunned. If you think the city couldn't get any more beautiful - think again once you get up on the walls.
Yep, as you would expect.. a nice stroll around some very old city walls, all very pretty and good for having a 360 view of the town.. get your tan on and binoculars out
We just bought tickets to walk the wall not do any sort of tour with a guide group from our cruise. All I knew was King's landing scenes for Game of Thrones had been filmed in Dubrovnik and the ancient city walls so...I was in heaven being "on set" so to speak. (No actors or crew were present. But the "set" was all around!)Wear good shoes, go as early in the day as possible, and bring water. It's a bit of a workout but the views? Anyone who used "breathtaking" or "stunning" or "amazing" or anything else like that in their title has said it all!Oh and the day we went we did see a little vendor set up on the side of the walls nearest the harbor selling drinks and light snacks. It was right near the bathroom. So if you do forget drinks there is a place to buy some...as long as that little vendor is open.
Well worth the entry fee for a couple of hours spent strolling along the old city walls taking photos of stunning views. Wear comfortable shoes as the path can be uneven and there are steps.
