its a gold postbox, lovely bench next to it for a wee sit down while you eat a lovely hot pie from the butchers
It is a good idea that gold olympians get recognition for their home towns but it was a bit tacky. Although saying that it was very popular on day we were there, but a poor local had to wait ages to post his letter because of all the photos being taken. One tip, best to find it on foot as it is near a roundabout and it can easily get busy as I have said. Lots of nice eateries close by
Two years on and folk are still having their photograph taken there! And there's a seat next to it if it is all too much for you!!!
Nice to see, but getting a bit weathered now. Worth going to see, the town is small so only a few hours would be enough.
Went down on the Sunday after a stay at Dunblane Hydro. Nothing special, quick photo and away. looks like it could be doing a lick of paint
Expected more to be honest. I had promised my girlfriend that Andy Murray would be there because he lives in the post box. Upon arrival she was upset to discover this clearly wasn't the case. Rubbish pickup times and several scuffs on the south facing side of the post box, probably down to the pickup postman being too rough when removing letters. Gold paint a little bit worn and could do with a touch up in places. Experience was further dampened by kids poking fun of my dress sense during the visit. If planning a trip I would suggest going during school hours to avoid embarrassment. Ducks round the corner on the river were nice, I didn't care too much for the seagulls stealing their bread. A bit of an underwhelming experience. I don't think we'll visit the post box again.
Notable but not too interesting visit, afterall its just a PO box, painted gold. Some people thought is was made of gold!
Very well placed at the end of the high street, we had great fun taking photos of ourselves posting cards to the grandchildren!
it is what it is a post box covered with gold paint! It has a plaque detailing Andy murray's success. Quite iconic but nothing spectacular. Bench also beside box and this also details his success. I did take photos for my grandson for his school project on sportsmen as he had chosen Andy Murray. They were fabby as he posed beside tha iconic features.
would have looked an awful lot better if it had been one of the older postboxes instead of one that looks like a dustbin
