With a great staff to lead you through the taste intimacies of their wines, Duck Pond is classy but not pretentious. Don't miss it when you are in the Willamette Valley. Oh, join one of their wine clubs. We live more than 2500 miles away and receive a wonderful surprise at the front door every six months like clockwork.
great location on 99W, not a bad place to kick off the Dundee Hills wine touring, but the wine was only so-so...by our taste. Probablly orht the stop.
A Really nice tasting room, perhaps a good place to start your trip. The Pinot Gris was actually the nicest I have tried this trip. Great jams and goodies. Light Pinot Noirs for drinking now, possibly chilled on the terrace.
I've been going to duck pond for over 20 years , the wine is always good, the service OK. Several years ago they moved from basicly pinots to a mixed lot with production at the Horse haven hills ( smart move ) now they have a great selection of wines at great prices. Do yourself a faver stop in the are good !
Wine Tasting in Oregon is very expensive, but Duck Pond was very reasonably priced, some free tastes. They provided crackers unlike many with 10, 15 & 20 dollar tasting fees at other wineries. The staff was very knowledgeable and your fee was waived with any purchase. Some you have to spend between 50 & 100 dollars. They are on the main Hwy 99 and have a great little gift shop with NW foods and a nice variety of tastes - Dark Reds, Whites & Pinot.
Some great wines at this winery. I am more of a red wine gal so the Pinot here is a great for table dinner wine. Atmosphere very pleasant sitting outside in th garden and they sometimes do specials where you enjoy cheese with your wine!
This spacious tasting room/gift shop/gardens is delightful.. You enter under a pergola of flowers with lovely shade or sun for sipping and outdoor picnicking. DPC offers really good wine at good prices. I especially like the Red Blend, but there is a nice variety to taste and choose. Shoppers will enjoy a good -size gift shop with wine-related products and tasty cheeses, chocolates, etc. I've done some Christmas shopping here from time to time and love going back whenever i'm heading toward Dundee. Look for the huge flag on the right as the lanes narrow a couple miles out of Newberg. Once you've done it, you'll want to bring your family and friends. Definitely worth the trip.
We took the facility tour and tasting. Was outstanding with a very informative guide. I would recommend sitting on the patio in the lovely gardens, paying $20 for 2 glasses of wine & a delicious antipasto plate. Nice place for a date before dinner out.
Duck Pond Pinot Gris is one of our favorite wines and we always make a point to stop at the Winery when we are in the area. This is a large and well managed facility with a great tasting room and a wonderful shop with all kinds of unique items. During this trip I joined the wine club and look forward to tasting many different wines and enjoying great discounts on bottle prices. The grounds are beautiful with wine draped walkway to the front door. It reminded us of many of the wineries we saw when we visited New Zealand.
We went on a guided wine tour last week & Duck Pond Cellars was the first stop. Absolutely lovely grounds & the girl attending to us for the tasting was delightful & knowledgeable. I walked away with new several bottles of wine & some cool unique items from the gift shop. I would have liked to have had more time to just relax on the beautiful patio but there was more wine to discover. I will be back.................
