Delicious Pinots, very friendly staff, the Lange family were around too so it was fun talking to them. Beautiful location. It's a bit out of the way, down a gravel road, but stop by Torii Mor too, it is just up the road and the two wineries make the gravel road worthwhile.
Great winery at the end of the road on Buena Vista Drive. It is worth the drive from the 99 to sample the wines and enjoy the view from the patio. Five wines were offered up for tasting for $10. The staff was very pleasant and insightful, offering suggestions of other wineries to visit.
Had the pleasure of meeting Don Lange and Jesse Lange (wine maker) during lunch and enjoying some Lange Pinot Noir. Visited the winery the next day. The Lange's and their staff were wonderful hosts and served a delightful range of very nice wines. Single lot Pinots as well as surprising us with very nice Chard, Pinot Gris and Tempranillo!Add to that, just a spectacular view and you couldn't ask for a nicer way to spend the afternoon.
I just returned from my 3rd trip to Willamette in 5 years. Each time we have specifically gone for wine tasting, and each time I have been extremely impressed with Lange. IMHO, they have the best Pinot Noirs in the Valley - elegant, balanced, and smooth. It sounds a little corny - but you can taste the love and care that goes into the wine making here. It is truly an artisan style wine that is consistently excellent. And, to make it even better, the people there are extremely gracious and kind. It is a winery that should never be passed by - always worth the trip even if it's out of your way!
Great views, helpful staff. Friendly and knowledgeable. This is s must stop if you’re a wine enthusiast.
Stop in when you are in the area if you love Pinos , they are some of the best ! The view is great also !Mike
I love the comfy and unpretentious tasting room. The views are great too. I love Pinot Noir but the price is out of my reach most of the time. Lange has a wonderful Pinot Gris that is so suitable for the warm weather of summer and affordable too. The road to the winery is part unpaved but the condition is not too bad. I will return when I visit the valley again
What a wonderful winery we stumbled upon in the Willamette Valley. We had been to Crumbled Rock Winery ($8 tasting fee) also really nice, friendly staff but didn't love the wines. Then on to Winterlea or some such name just next door to Crumbled Rock. Winterlea had a booming $20 tasting fee which was shocking enough and then as the 6 of us entered and moved past the wine bar to get out of the entrance we heard one of the staff behind the wine bar say, "oh great...what did they come for the view?!" I promptly walked out and waited in the parking lot with the other wives that had known the snot behind the counter didn't think much of us. Unfortunately, two of the husbands paid for and tasted :-( and actually bought a bottle! Once we told him what the snot had said he definitely wished he had not given them our business. So very fortunately we ended up at Lange's ($10 tasting fee) which was the polar opposite in welcoming, friendly and unpretentious! We LOVED all 5 of the wines tasted and we bought a case! What a great experience....we wish we'd had more time spend at this lovely place. Thank you Don and all for your gracious hospitality! Wunderly or whatever the place down the road was called....could learn a thing or two about hospitality! (PS. one of the staff sent us on to Purple Hands Winery which was fun as well!)
Lange delivers. You'll want to turn around after a mile of unpaved road, but keep going. The winery sits way atop the Valley. The views and wines and will be worth the trip. Ask for Maria. She is an excellent tasting room ambassador. 5 stars.
In a land where very good Pinot Noirs can be found on every street corner, Lange wines are top flight and stand out. Add to this an exquisite view, lovely estate and vineyard and some of the most genuinely nice people around, and this vineyard scores. The congenial staff attitude starts with Don Lange, the founder, and permeates the place. Great people, great place, great wine.
