We enjoy coming to Dover for Nascar. For a fun family experience, by all means go to Dover. There is a lot of parking. We tend to park at Delaware college across the street, it is easy to get in and out and the parking fee goes to support the students. I would recommend bringing a cooler of water if it is a hot day. Food selection in the speedway is typical stadium food but there are great selections before you enter the gates so arrive early and eat before you go in. I was impressed by security, they were thorough and I prefer that they are but allow yourself extra time to get through the security check in to find your seats and avoid the last minute rush. If you are planning to stay in the area, make hotel reservations months in advance or you will be staying quite a bit away.On our recent Sept visit, we had seats right across from the stage/pit stop. We were only a few rows from the top but we had a hard time seeing the cars on the straightway directly in front of us. On the other hand, it was easy to see the pit crews in action. Next race, we are going back to where we sat previously, a bit off center but much higher. I rather see the race than the details of the pit.
The Monster Mile...what else can I say? As far as the viewing experience, top notch! We recommend getting seats above the 30th row - you will see all of the action. The vending inside the track proper left something to be desired but in the fan zone there was great variety with some healthy and yummy options. Our 8 year old loved the kids zone which was filled with bouncy everything. The one thing that we really appreciated, especially after Lowe's IS was the clean bathrooms with an attendant in each bathroom to ensure that they never got gross. We have been to tracks that were much more generous with the port-a-potties but these ones never seemed to run out of toilet paper, so clearly someone was making sure they were stocked, even well after the race was done.
This track hosts 2 NASCAR races each year if you are into this sport this is a great place to go. There are many displays and exhibts during race weekend and lots to do for the entire family besure to bring ear plugs for the race.
Get there early or you will spend 3 hours trying to park. Sunscreen is a must. Be prepared to do a lot of walking.
campground is amazingly enormous! Well patrolled and kept clean. General store. Everything in walking distance of track. Great times on race weekend.
When I go to the speedway I always go to see NASCAR. The views from the family section were great, but the food was okay and the restrooms were awful. If you have kids I recommend sitting in the family section. If you don't you will probably be stuck with abnoxious fans. All in all its very fun and there are plenty of activities to do before the race. Also please go to Daniel Hernandez on YouTube and click the link on the home for homeless video and donate some money for a good cause. Happy Travels!!!
Get your motors running here. I had the pleasure of watching a race here, needless to say besides the loud roar of the engines the race was exciting
Dover International Speedway is my Favorite Track. Been going there since 1990. even when it was paved Asphalt Have camp there a few times in the past, which is a blast to do. Can see most of track from the higher up seats. we always bring in coolers with food and drinks, a way to save money. Now it just day trips to the track.
The logistics that go into getting ready and executing a NASCAR race and everything it entails is actually DONE RIGHT here. Very easy to get into, and out of. Parking doesn't cost you a lot, and everyone I spoke with was very helpful! The signage around the place makes everything very easy to find. I wish every sports venue was as easy to get in and out of as fast at Dover!
I do like the speedway, it brings a lot of excitement. The races are exciting. The nearby casino is nice.
