Loved every minute of our time here. We even got to take some batting practice with a gentleman who was in the movie. We will definitely be back!
Okay, what cam I say. It was amazing, and a dream comne true. One down from my bucket list. We palyed for over 4 hours before we realized we hadn't had lunch yet. It was a blast. Problem. they are building a whoel fleet of ball fields and hotels etc. get there this year before it is wrecked forever.
A few years ago we traveled to many different states. What drew us to Iowa was The Field of dreams! It was so surreal, like being right there in the movie! It is exactly what it looked like in the movie. theres not much around it, alot of farms and such but there is a stand where you can buy some of the movie memorabilia. We ran the bases and pretended to throw out the first pitch. There are some cool museums outside of town but it is a sight to see for sure if you love kevin costner and the movie!
if you have seen the movie, and who hasn't, this is a step into the baseball scene. Walk out from the corn as ball players did. Visit gift shopThis was a really fun stop.
It's a little over played up. The film was decades ago and the place look similar... but many of the movie shots are not there. The corn field is only available for a selected time... But you can play a game on the field.
My wife and I were visiting family in Iowa and we decided to make a trip to the Field of Dreams site. It was a cold and rainy day and were the only visitors there. The lady working there that day was very helpful and friendly. We were able to go on the field and take some pictures. We hope to come back when the weather is warmer and maybe get to take part in an actual game on the Field of Dreams.
In the middle of Iowa, literally through a small town and down a dirt road is the FIELD OF DREAMS! You have that exciting feeling just like when you watch the movie. A feeling comes over you and you can hear it...."If you build it, they will come". Bring your bat and balls. Play a game of catch or a full baseball game. It's all FREE! Run the bases, take lots of pictures, stay as long as you want. The white house with the porch swing is there! Sit on the bleachers too! They have a Dugout with souveniers too. It's worth the trip. If you loved the movie, you'll love the field!
Our recent mid-west baseball tour took us to many major sports complexes but none of those would or could out-do what we experienced at the Field of Dreams! We drove from Cedar Rapids, about 1.5 hours, lovely drive through the corn fields :) The setting is beautiful, a bright green field in the midst of mid-west corn fields. It was a beautiful day, i.e. short sleeve weather, and we had brought our mitts along! We played catch, took pics of us going into the corn fields and I even borrowed a bat so my husband could pitch to me! First pitch, I hit a screaming line drive right past his head and I ran all four bases! It was an awesome experience and I hope these folks can keep this alive for another 25 or more years! An all star spot in our books and we are so glad we could see it!
We truly enjoyed the ride to visit the field where the movie Field of Dreams was filmed. I would recommend seeing it not in winter when the corn fields have been cut down, but the magic of the house, the bleachers and the field still held our interest and breath. You could alost feel the spirit of not only ball players but those who made that great film. We took lots of pictures and it was the final day of the souvenir stand to be open so we got some great deals on jerseys.
Watch the movie and then come see the place where it happend, was it heaven? no, its Iowa The best time to come is when the corn is tall between Jin and October, but it is worth the trip any time.
