One of our favorite places on Cape Cod! We've only been a couple of times, but will go back multiple times in the near future. Clean beach, miles to just walk or you could swim if you're brave enough (very cold water). We've been both in the spring (May) and also in the fall (October) and both times it was gorgeous! We even saw some sea lions the second time we visited. There is not a lot of parking right at the beach, but a little ways down there are a couple larger lots.
One of the best beaches in the world. Great for long walks, amazing waves when the surf is up, great for surfers. Most of the beach and parking lot were wiped out in the storm of 1978, but they do have shuttle bus service which is very easy to use and very convenient. Outside showers, inside bathroom and changing rooms, a ramp to the beach (Shannon H was at Nauset Light Beach, not Coast Guard), lifeguards on duty during the season, parking for your bikes. Remember, it is an ocean beach, so it is cold and the waves can be rough at times.
We stopped here while in Cape Cod, after the Park Ranger highly recommended it. It was an absolutely beautiful beach and we loved watching the many seals just off of the coast. We wished we had had more time to enjoy this beach. Many other reviewers discussed the cost of parking here - we were here in October and there was no cost to park. The Ranger said this fee is only applicable during peak times.
I particularly enjoyed the nature walks & history talks. The beach was stunning from the Coast Guard Station overlook.
Clean rest rooms, easy stairs to beach with multiple landings, beautiful rolling dunes, plenty of beach space. Seals galore, the occasional shark sighting, many huge cargo ships on the horizon heading to and fro Boston. Just an awesome place to leave the world behind.
A great place to enjoy nature's beauty and a peaceful walk on the beach to enjoy the ocean waves and sand. A nice small parking lot is near by and the wave were huge and crashing the day we were there.
I was here in November and there was plenty of parking but the lot is small as others noted. It's a very nice sandy beach and seeing the seals is fun. There's an overlook if you don't want to walk down to the beach and with the cold weather, I chose to watch from above. I would imagine during high season, it is very crowded and can see why. There are parking lots with a shuttle in high season so you can still get there. Either way, the view is pleasant.
The sand cliffs, old coast guard station and beach for miles makes this beach very charming. Be prepared though as the parking lot is tiny and you need to take a shuttle from another lot. After waiting 15 minutes we did find a spot but that was after labour day. There are change room and washroom facilities. There was a sandbar further out with hundreds of seals, the water was a gorgeous colour with big waves. Now be prepared the water is cold. Most people on the beach had a sweater on and surfers had body suits but we still swam for 30 minutes until my hands were numb. A beautiful relaxing area just to relax on the beach.
You have to park your car and take a tram to get to the beach. But it is well worth the trouble once you get there. Very nice and wide beach. When you are there, check out the sandpiper nests. The seals are fun to watch too!
