Irish death was our favorite beer. Really good job on the new pub with nice outdoor seating. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed our tasting of eight beers. Great atmosphere, staff is exceptional, loved it! Nice way to spend an afternoon.
Iron Horse Brewery is the perfect small town atmosphere pub, with great tasting micro-brew on tap. Always a friendly atmosphere, with friendly top notch service. Would highly recommend this establishment, as a local who really enjoys stopping by every now and then myself. They have recently relocated into a larger space adjacent to their old one, providing a more spacious atmosphere.
When we arrived in Ellensburg our hotel room was not available yet so went to old town. It was Sunday afternoon and everything was closed except this brewery. It was 92 degrees so a cold beer sounded good. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about their beers. The space is simple and roomy and right on the main downtown street. My husband choose the one that put Iron Horse on the map, Irish Death, a dark ale, it was excellent. I'm a lighter beer drinker and choose a lite ale that was on the citrus side and it too was excellent. We enjoyed some popcorn a cool tasting room and a afternoon break!
My wife and I enjoy trying craft beers. We visited Iron Horse while traveling through and really enjoyed their beer. You can tell it is a favorite hang-out for the locals. We look forward to stopping in next time we are in the area.
I was taken here on a 3 week vacation with a friend in Ellensburg. Its a tiny little beer pub in a back part of the way place. Its a business area that has several other alcohol attached shops located there. When you walk in you notice how small it is and the decor that decorates the walls. From off teh wall sayings to pictures of popular beers I coudl easily see how people can spend half a day here. What surprised me is the huge list of beer that they have. Written on a chalkboard menu above the cashiers head is a menu with at least 50 different beers or more. The local and very well known beer is Irish Death. A beer that needs no encore to knock you on your butt. It has a chocolate aftertaste that you wouldnt expect and becuase of that you guzzle it down but when you try to stand..........yeah...not much luck. The best way to be is to ask for a pint of this stuff and get ready to let the good times roll!
Ellensburg is 2 hours from Seattle, east on I-90. Iron Horse Brewery is a great spot to stop for a day outing, or pit stop on a long trip. We learned of the brewery while our daughter was attending college at CWU. We just returned from a trip to the area and came back with four growlers to share with friends who are also grads from CWU. Irish Death is very popular along with their seasonal beers, Mocha Death, Cozy Sweater, Quilters, so many choices. They do not serve food, no biggy. There are at least five "local" small businesses we frequent while we stop in Ellensburg so the trip is all inclusive of our many eating and tasting interests. Iron Horse is at the top of the list. The Iron Horse beer is great for gift giving as a growler or several smaller containers. We send three bottles back east to a relative for his bday. He has never been to WA state. This last summer we took some Iron Horse beers with us to a family reunion in the midwest. Road trip warriors. We organized a family beer tasting event. Twelve beers for tasting were brought to the event from small breweries from across the nation, near where our relatives reside. The three we brought from Iron Horse were rated number 1,2 and 4 out of 12 samplings. SCORE!!! Did the winner dance!
Was in Ellensburg for a workshop and several of us met at the Iron Horse afterward. Service was excellent and although very small, there was enough varity of beer that everyone found something they enjoyed. The back patio was a lovely place to spend the end of a sunny day and enjoy casual conversation with both friends and strangers. The only drawback is there's no food so plan accordingly.
Iron Horse Brewery is a TRUE micro brewery. With many selections of tasty flavored beer, along with a fantastic vibe in both places they serve in Ellensburg. I have been to both, and with out a doubt, the best place to have a superb locally brewed beer. Worth the stop for a cold one! Cheers!
We've visited the Iron Horse Brewery several times, but this was our first time at the new Micro-Pub on Main Street in downtown Eburg. It's tiny, but in good weather (which is most of the time), there's also an outdoor patio with lawn chairs. There are 8 or so rotating beers on tap, plus a guest tap. (It's also next door to a very good pizza takeout spot, which will deliver your food to Iron Horse. But that's a different review.) Like I said, it's tiny. Grab a barstool if you can, and choose your brew from the rotating tap. We sent one of our party to belly up to the bar and order our beer, while the rest of us staked out a high counter in the corner. Our server came to check on us several times, chatty and friendly and welcoming. I love the clever way they list the beers on tap and other specials: they painted the bathroom door with chalkboard paint.www.ironhorsebrewery.com
