very lovely views from the bridge and lovely flags of the countries it's a good experience and nice feeling to pass it
In itself it simply a bridge, nothing historically or architecturally interesting. But, at least for me, all border places are quite fascinating. Add the majesty of the Danube, the view of the castle and of the nice, picturesque village of Esztergom....
former bridge was destroyed on the end of second world war. Long time people between Ostrihom and Štúrovo used ferry-boats. Traveling was permited for slovakien and hungarien citizens only. Today is bothway transpotation through bridge between Hungary and Slovakia.
I loved the Maria Valeria bridge! The views were great and it was interesting to be able to walk over the bridge into Slovakia and then come back to Hungary. If you're in Esztergom, I recommend walking this bridge.
This bridge connected two countries, Hungary and Slovakia. It was distroyed during second world war and it was rebuild with help of EU and donations. We really enjoyed the most fascinating views on Dunai and beatiful Basilica in Esztergom.
A short walk for magnificent views of the castle & basilica. Also a border crossing. If you are short on time, don't bother venturing into Sturovo, there's really nothing to see and do. The bridge may get pretty windy.
This very nice bridge links Slovakia and Hungary. When arriving at the end of a sunny summer day like us, the best photos of the basilica will be taken from the Slovakian side; once at the basilica, when you try to photograph the bridge, the sun is in your face.
After several decades it was renewed and in 2002 reopend for pedestrians and cars. Easy access and connection between Slovakia (Sturovo) and Hungary (Estergom).
It is worth it to take a walk overt he bridge into Slovakia. You'll get some great pictures of the basilica and the surrounding countryside. I strolled around Sturvo, Slovakia. It is just a small city. Nothing special. Have a good Slovak beer and then schlep back over the bridge and wander along the river bank back to the town center of Estergom.
Nothing special itself but historically it is a very important bridge. It connects Hungary and Slovakia, rebuilt in 2001 after destroying in II WW. Worth to visit both sides, Esztergom with the cultural heritage and Sturovo (Párkány) with excellent beers :)
