We are not the most artistic people but alot of the art we didn't understand or find that attractive. I think I had a different expectation. The most interesting thing to us was the renovation of the old Harvester showroom building into a museum.
Both the permanent collection, which contains work by both internationally known and local artists, and the temporary exhibit, are enjoyable. The temp. exhibit of work by George Morrison is very extensive and impressive. The museum features a nice cafe with a pleasant staff and good lunch food as well as easy parking, great location downtown.
Our group visited here to see the musuem and to have dinner. It's an interesting collection. And, while the dining choice was limited to what had been chosen, I was extremely pleased with the offering and the service!
Rotating art installations in a cool building with lots of exposed brick in downtown Fargo. A local institution.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here—the permanent exhibits were wonderful, with some truly excellent paintings and sculptures. The rotating exhibit when we visited was of Sandra Menefee Taylor's work, which we loved. The building is a lovely repurposed space. We're glad we found it.
this is a very nice museum with local artists exhibited. The museum is small but actually a lot of art is displayed and it gives one a good education about life on the plains, past and present. There is also a terrific gift shop. Don't forget to buy your "I've been to Fargo" T-shirt here because I haven't seen it anywhere else.
This museum is in a neat building and has nicely presented exhibits. However, I felt like there wasn't tons of content, and two of the exhibits were by the same artist and thus extremely repetitive. I appreciate that there was a lot of local art, but I wanted to see more about the area's history through art.
beautiful place, old world look, very clean and spacious.. went to a wedding here and was decorated very elegantly, giver you the feel of big city,
Beautiful historic building, light and airy, well laid out. Interesting and very good art, phodtography, sculpture, and travelling special art displays, movies about artists. Not crowded, tasty cafe offering meals at lunchtime in beautiful atmosphere, special events, and this is a great place to book a venue!
We stopped here to see the art while in Fargo. There were several interesting art pieces to see. Unfortunately our timing was off as they were changing over the rotating art galleries to new exhibits. Still an enjoyable stop and free parking nearby. Staff was very helpful in telling us what we could see given; their advise was very helpful.Rating for our trip was probably average - but if the special exhibit areas were open I would tend to think this is a very good art gallery to stop by. Visit however would still take less than an hour.
