Every time my dad comes to visit, he wants to go here. If you like guns, the history of guns, and how guns played a role in making our history, this place is a must see. There are so many things to see and read. The best part is, its free!
Well, you can't beat the price - It's free! They must have examples of every kind of firearm that was ever made. I'd like to see more about how different innovations functioned, say the development of a trigger (hands-on models?), and determining and combining parameters such as barrel twist to ammunition.
We went because we wanted to see their exhibits of how guns fit into the American historical experience. This museum did a very nice job of explaining that, with displays of the guns involved in each step of the journey. Mayflower journey - they've got a gun for that. Desert Storm - yep. Civil War - of course. The last stop on the journey is a fun and extensive collection of guns that "starred" in movies. Well worth the visit and it was free!
I.m not a fan, or member, but the museum is interesting. Lots of firearms. good displays. free parking.
We were in the area and decided to go because it's free. None in our group are gun enthusiasts but we can appreciate the variety and artistry of firearms. We were all extremely impressed by the collection. We spent about an hour and a half there and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. It really is great, even for non gun lovers.
I was visiting my fiance (who lives in Chantilly) and one afternoon, we had a few hours to kill, so we decided to drop by here. It was really interesting and cool to see all these historical firearms. The info provided was also very thorough. I'm not a huge fan of guns, but I thought it was pretty interesting, because I do love history. My fiance, on the other hand, LOVES firearms and weaponry and so he obviously had a ball. I believe there is no fee for the attraction (or at least we didn't have to pay when we went) and you can take pictures. HOWEVER, they let you know that if you want to post photos online, you must first contact the NRA to ask for permission. I think you can get in trouble if you just go posting pictures, without the NRA's permission.
This is a self guided museum. Lots of things to see. There is plenty to read. Wish that they had tours as it may be a little more interesting. There are some really good and neat guns to see. The kids enjoyed it
Very well put together museum. After you are finished touring the museum, you will feel more knowledgeable about the history of firearms!
The National Firearms Museum has an excellent collection of guns on display that should interest gun enthusiasts. Admission is free and it is easy to find. Well worth a visit.
Another free museum , no fees at all , guns & history , what a great combo . A lot more here than I thought , allow at least 2+ hours . Easy access , but more geared towards adults .
