I've been to a number of ballparks across the country. Citi Field is definitely one of the best. Walking from the parking lot to the park, I was taken by the fun welcoming atmosphere. The main 'lobby' is certainly unique and keeps the crowd moving along nicely. The park is quaint, our seats were great and the Mets won!
Caveat: I am NOT a Mets fan and believe I have only rooted for them twice...the '69 Miracle Mets (forgive me, I was only a tween) and the '86 Mets because they beat the Sox. Back in the early 80's my wife and I attended a game at Shea to see them play the Dodgers (her team at the time) and it was a horrible experience. Citi Field however was a pleasant experience. Last day of the season, beautiful fall day, with family, good game (or as good as it gets Mets vs. Astros), nice view from our seats (upper deck along 3rd base line) and the very best part was receiving a Bobblehead of Casey Stengel (I met him at the Tunnicliff in Cooperstown in the mid-60's). The bad parts: not all the food vendors were open which I can forgive since it was the last day of the season and the worst was PARKING. Wound up parking in a rutted dirt lot where a number of others were parked. I have no idea if this was official parking or not as signage in and around the stadium was terrible. Oh well...Yankee stadium here I come.
I love this ballpark for the obvious reason...the home of the NY Mets! :) Besides, me being a Mets fan, this is a very nice and beautiful ballpark. The seats are comfortable and the bathrooms are surprisingly clean for a sports facility. The entrance of the stadium, The Jackie Robinson Rotunda is beautifully designed and crafted. However, what is ironic is that Jackie Robinson never donned a Mets uniform. I love and hate the way this modern day Ebbets Field is constructed. I love it that you can get a good view of the game from any seat, even the high up nosebleeds. The bad thing is that it is constructed in such a way that the wind blows TOWARDS home plate rather than away from it. It causes out Metsies to hit less home runs and our players' homerun totals diminish. I like the fact that they are trying to move the fences in to make it a level playing field for both pitchers AND hitters. I am even pleased that they offer Shake Shack, the best burger, fries and handspun milkshakes you can ever consume. However, I wish that they had a system to alleviate the long queue and we don't wind up missing two innings for waiting to place our order.I also wish they had some discounts and price breaks on their ridiculously priced concessions. I pay almost $20 for a meal! smdhI also wish they had MORE stuff for kids to do besides the dunk tank, miniature playing field and occasional meet and greets with Mr. & Mrs. Met. The Citi Field experience can be so much better if they actually start having
GREAT atmosphere and awesome venue. Everything from bathrooms to seating and everything in between was clean. Ofcourse very very pricey but what do you expect...arent they all.
I go to many baseball games although for the most part I am a Yankee fan I really enjoy Mets games also...but when it comes to the stadium itself I feel that citi field is a much better stadium...It's more fan friendly , it has a lot more open feel that is a great view no matter where you are...it has a lot to do for kids...parking is so much easier here than it is at Yankee Stadium...and value you cannot beat the value that you get here for your money...and one good thing about Met games , you always get an amazing game a nailbiter so to speak it winning a losing it when you're losing it's always a high charged game
Not necessarily all the perks of some of the newer stadiums but still enjoyable experience and fun for the whole family
Citi Field was a great improvement when compared to Shea Stadium. Avery fan freindly stadium. Good food, great sightlines. In the lower levels you cannot sit behind home plate in the cheaper sections. But there are great restaurants and cafeteria style spots behind home plate. You walk into the sections from the rear rather through tunnels so you have a view of the field from all around. Parking can get expensive.
The food was average baseball game fair The Mets at least didn't make me throw up from watching their play on the field
Citi field provides a great view of a baseball game from any angle at any level. The entrance gates do not have long lines. Food is pricey,
A beautiful entrance way, as entering the rotunda makes you feel like you're entering one of the old-time ballparks I remember from the 1950's and '60's. The Mets Hall of Fame is cute. Views of the playing field are pretty clear from the sets, but not from the walkway areas. Lines are long at the concession stands and bathrooms, but what can you do? Let's hope the Mets can finally play this year at a level that can match the quality of their park.
