It's a very long walk if you choose to do all of it. Just a section of the wall walk will suffice to give you an idea, considering that from the wall yiu'll see very little of them, as you are on them, and very little of the city. Still a very nice walk for a sunny and hot summer day
get a bike and ride the length of them both on top amidst the treees and below to appreciate the structure
I can recommend the Old Town of Ferrara. The Renaissance is there on life in this buildings. This Wall is a good Thing to see with some informations about it. When you are in Northern Italy, then you must visit Ferrara.
I have lived my whole life in a crowded city, modern, cool, rich and full of activities. Moving to ferrara for educational purposes was not easy; however this city had mesmerized me with its mura. Incredibly beautiful, embracing the city with high trees that seem to talk to you every time you wish to look for their company. When choosing to stroll down le mura di Ferrara, you have the best views of all the city corners and you enjoy a great sense of the dolce vita. Not to mention the beauty of dawn and sunset when there.
A fantastic walk in the beautiful town of Ferrara. Do it, i enjoyed the place and the story of this walls
My daughter and I walked on foot only partly walls. Best by bicycle, this time we did not. How was the first May, everything was green, a true paradise to enjoy. We could see on all sides because of Ferrara is located in the valley. We saw a water tower, a factory chimney. Walls and everything that reminds me of childhood and my hometown. I do not believe that tourists photographing such things :)))
During our stay in Ferrara, we hired bikes and went to around the wall according to our guidebook. We were amazed at the intact parts of the wall standing as if built recently. It's both inspiring and healthy to bike around it. We will definitely return there.
A good way to explore the city: riding a bike on or along the walls it's under 15 km and it's only interrupted in a couple of places near the rail station.
The very ancient walls around the city are the favourite place of citizens for walking and jogging in the nature. Here you can find people from very early in the morning till dusk.
The mura serves all, wether you want to walk, jog, ride a bike or walk your dog. Flat terrain, well maintained and easy to navigate. Great way to meet locals, of which many (unfortunately for me) speak little or no english.
